TW: PTSD, Child Abuse, Child Experimentation, Murder, Suicide
Evie has PTSD due to being locked in a pitch black room in the basement as punishment for defying her Mother, who controlled every aspect of Evie’s life. Evie had no say in how she dressed, ate, or acted. She was conditioned to always smile no matter what mood she was in, masking her emotions from a young age.
Evie is a minority, so there are not a lot of Evie’s in the multiverse. If there are, some of them were found out and subjected to testing and experimentation by her own Father, eventually dying in the lab. Others broke due to their Mother’s conditioning and turned into nothing but a hollow shell that donned whatever personality their Mother wanted. Some even had a psychotic break as a teen and killed their Mother, ending up in an asylum.
In the multiverse, Evie got a lot of compliments and comments about how pretty she was (some of them mentioning that if being a vigilante fell through then she’d make a good model, which brought up bad memories), and it eventually grated on her so much that she marred her own face with her claws, raking them down the left side of her face. She later told Miguel that she was sick of being pretty, so she was giving everyone a different reason to stare.
The reason why there is only one Jayden Rodríguez in the multiverse is because every other Jay ended up taking their own lives. Some committed suicide before they got bit because of his dad, some of them had already met Gwen and some didn’t. The Jay’s that met Gwen tended to last longer, but once Gwen dies post-bite they go off the deep end and eventually commit suicide.
Jay didn’t meet the same fate due to Miguel coming to his dimension, recruiting Jay to join him in the multiverse after capturing and containing him after he goes berserk when Gwen dies during an anomaly attack.
He was kicked out of his house by his over-controlling cop father when he was 16 after he was outed about being gay and he went to Gwen’s house to stay with her since he’d been basically living there already.
He got emancipated a few months later and took his mother’s maiden name in order to cut off all ties to his father. He then dropped out of school and got a job at a restaurant in order to begin saving up with the intent to one day move away from New York city.
