It took a very long time for him to confess, he's the proud type (and shy when it comes to love) and you MADE him confess, cause there was no way you would let yourself be his this easily.
When he confessed, his face was as red as his ruana, and he couldn't form a proper sentence. "y/n I- ... I would like t-too- AH ! DAMMIT-" you remember giggling at his flustered state. Making you also a little less flustered. He told you to stop laughing as you responded, "Make me."
Oh boy he didn't wait a second. His usual smirk appeared on his face as he took a step closer. He tilted your chin up with his index and kissed you. You remember him whispering "I would love, to be your boyfriend." mid-kiss.
It took a while before Carlos finally got comfortable being affectionate with you in public, he's known to be cold and a troublemaker, not a lovey dovey boyfriend.
One afternoon you two were walking side by side in a quiet street of Encanto, there were only a few people minding their own business for once, so you took that opportunity and intertwined your fingers with his. But he immediately removed his hand from yours.
You both froze as your heart shattered. you know he didn't mean it but still- crazy how that little action made your eyes watery.
Carlos, on the other hand, felt like he was punched in the guts when he realized what he did. Actually, he didn't know if he wanted to be punched or punched himself for his stupid behavior. He immediately apologized when he saw your face "no no no cariño I'm so sorry I didn't mean-".
Your lips formed a pout, but you shook your head. "no it's me- I knew you weren't comfortable with- m-me-" He cupped your face before you could finish your sentence with his hands. "Don't." His heterochromia eyes locked onto yours. "I am NOT uncomfortable being seen with you, never, I just got startled- it's all new to me too-... I am sorry."
You didn't try to take his hand after that. And he was so nervous about making another bad move that you both just kept walking until you reached your house.
But you absolutely weren't prepared for the next day when you waited for Carlos near the fountain in the town center. He was late. Not like it was unusual, he's Carlos Madrigal after all. But it felt strange knowing he never made you wait, especially when he's the one who asked you to specifically wait for him right there.
It's when you heard disbelief laughs and whispers that you turned around and saw your boyfriend. Actually you saw the big bouquet of wildflowers first, but that's just a detail...
He didn't say a word, Carlos doesn't waste words, but you knew he was making up for yesterday, and you felt a warmth spread through you at his gesture. Perhaps also the embarrassment of showing affection in front of this huge gossiping town... But who cared ? One of the most introverted person you know made a romantic move in front of all those people
You notice the tension in his shoulder relaxing and the breath he was holding letting out when you took the flowers. You muttered a low "thank you" before he actually took your hand and gently guided you away from this overcrowded place.
You couldn't look away from him. How can he be so handsome today ? He kept walking so you stopped him in his track. He turned to you. Silent, perhaps scared he made another bad move. But all his thoughts vanished away when you grabbed his ruana to bring him closer and pressed your lips against his, the bouquet still securely set in your other arm.
He leaned into your kiss, too stunned to think about anything else. One of his hand cupped your cheek while the other held the arm holding the bouquet.
"Does that mean I'm forgiven..?" He muttered with his stupid grin and his tilted head.
You rolled your eyes but the red on your cheek couldn't lie. "You already were."
