2022 year in review

Highlights:

Walking a million steps everyday and THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE

-April. trip to Chicago (for work) and Alan joined later! Saw Dan and Emma. Pizza friendly pizza.

Halloween and block party weekend. Friends come over and handed out candy!

Rediscovering Pokémon go 😂

Alan new job with the VA (mid December)

Picked up Pokémon go! Walked so so much.

-Aunt Vicki passed away and had a Irish wake in Decatur

-invited a “now that’s what I call music” game

House projects:

-Finally bought and hung blinds!

-Installed pantry pullout drawers

-build backyard shed

-hung a bunch of stuff (like the floating shelves)

-Dan and Emma found out they are pregnant with twins! (November)

Low lights -

Got COVID and missed Ralph and Merediths wedding :(

Alan’s dad (Steve) ended second round of radiation and ended his house staying stint. Didn’t take care of it all so tried a few more different treatments. Currently enrolled in a clinical trail. Keeping our fingers crossed he gets some decent news soon.

Themes:

Stopped caring so much at work (good) and gained confidence (also good)

Took up a Pilates practice and try to attend 2 or so times a week

Got our house in order. Lots of little projects, rearrangements and feeling a bit cozier.

Readying ourself to have a kid (hopefully!)

Falling into a good rhythm with Alan. Love him more and more and more.

Discovered Louie Demun OBSESSED

Sydney street cafe for my birthday!

High pointed hot chicken!

World up games! At home, with Brian and Lynette and the tavern.

Spending lots pizza and movie Friday nights with heather and Aaron - Including Pinocchio, poltergeist and Jingle all the way.

Hopes for the future:

Take on a gratitude and joy practice.

Take and hold things more lightly

Look for the joy. The goodness. And share them wisely with others

Rambling restarts, refreshers, and refocusing

Goal for this year:

1) “Take up space”.

Meaning be okay with assertiving yourself and believe you deserve the space you take up. You’re not a nuisance. You’re not annoying or dumb. You deserve the same space as anyone else and don’t feel bad about it.

2) Dig into your hobbies and the people around them

It’s easy to waste time watching Netflix. I’m started improv last year and love it! And seen so much positive change in myself. I want to continue to grow my interests, passions, and experience in those hobbies that bring me joy.

I would love to set a goal for the month each month, but I’m not sure what that would look like. For this coming month I need to get my body back on balance. No better time to start than now!

January: no alchohol and get fruit/veggie at every meal (limited sweets). Going to the gym 3x a week

Got our forever fur friend this past week. It's more wonderful and terrifying and exhausting than I could have imagined. Pretty sure my bleeds heart already grew 3 more sizes since she's been home. we're (both) learning so so so much and growing our patience and ability to problem solve. (What's that whimper mean? Why does she have so rambunctious, is she hungry or just ready to play?) overall she is a fantastic puppy....double emphasis on the puppy, crazy mood swings and all. Thanks for loving us, Slug. We'll probably make a few mistakes, and you may have another tumble off the couch...but we're really glad to have you apart of our family now.

STILL RELEVANT

Keep throwing yourself out there. That's how you grow. That's how you grow. That's how you grow.

That's how you learn. And get better. Everyone starts somewhere. REPEAT: EVERYONE STARTS SOMEWHERE. And if they're judging you as much as you're judging yourself, they're the asshole. (Also stop judging yourself and get out of your head).

Keep being vulnerable. You're trying, and caring, and DOING. that's what matter.

I think, when it really comes down to it, we really just want to matter. To someone, to everyone, to ourselves. And the rest of the world, in their own way, is doing their best to figure out how to do just that.

Cancer sucks and I'm tired---my week in review.

Interviewed for a job I really want. Letting myself be excited at the opportunity. Letting myself actually want this. And letting myself be okay if it doesn't work out.

I seriously get so much joy out of this filter 😭. Loving improv. Loving these warm ALMOST summer days. Had a great bbbbbq for Brittanys birthday. Such a lovely night in our backyard with cool people and fun drinks. Thankful for friends and so so so great to celebrate brittany :)

A short list of thing that are Bringing me joy (&reducing anxiety):

Kumbucha. Fresh flowers. Improv. The Great British Baking Show. Sunshine. Brisk walks. Old clothes fitting again. A Good Sweat.

Whole 30 day 8. I reaalllllly just want wine. Or a cookie. But then I tell myself--I'm in it for the pants! NO MORE TIGHT PANTS 👖👖👖👖!! And then I also tell myself--get a grip (and some self control), it's barely been a week!!

Day 6

I didn’t take a picture unfortunately, but last night I made us “whole 30 egg roll in a bowl”

Basically a bunch of cooked cabbage and other veggies and ground chicken. And topped it with this curry-but sauce. HOLY SMOKES IT WAS AMAZINGGGGGG. The sauce we found really took the cake. Thankfully it gave us a million leftovers for lunch and we get to experience that bliss a few more times. Definitely something I will make again, post whole 30!!

Also did barre again tonight!! So freaking hard--like my legs were still sore from Saturday and were nooooot cooperating 😖 But glad I went and thankful for the workout even if it wasn't my best.
