1. They’re Allen’s dads: At some point in time, Mana and Cross have taken on parental roles in Allen’s life. The love that they had for Allen literally shaped him to be the polite and empathetic protagonist that we all know and love. Did their “deaths” greatly traumatize him too? Yes, but as they say, a couple that stays together, dies together.
2. A little something for dilf enjoyers: Not only are Mana and Cross dads, but they’re hot dads. Now don’t get me wrong, I love young ManaCross but older ManaCross hits different. Half of the fandom already thirsts of Cross but we need to seriously acknowledge how hot older Mana is. He’s a poor little meow meow. And what more with the two of them being hot dads together.

Angst galore: Hey Yulma shippers, you want another ship where you just ache over two people who just deserved better, but with a pinch of “we’re losing an uphill battle and there’s nothing we can do but embrace the time we have with each other”? Cross having to watch as the Earl slowly takes over Mana? A possibility. A hysterical Mana profusely apologizing to Cross after he hurts him in a fit of madness? That could happen. Cross seeing so much of Mana in Allen that he has to be alone for some time or else he’d break down? Absolutely.
