"And then one day, you do it." The summer has come to an end, but the story continues at my new blog: Miss with a Mission.
Day 151. A bonus day to go to the bank and the library, call the insurance company, and pack the packs... And to go for one more run and to the sauna with friends.
Days 148-150. A lovely Finnish-Norwegian wedding in the beautiful Nesodden. The bride played Mendelssohn as a part of the touching ceremony. Later the groom taught everyone who the king of Finland is.
Day 147. Creative recycling: My old striped Marimekko shirt will get a second life as a part of Jacob Dahlgren's performance at the 15th anniversary of Kiasma. Get involved by donating yours by Sep 19!
Day 146. Emptying the castle after 7+ years. Had forgotten how much work and nostalgia moving out involves. Also, a sweet sorrow to meet cool people through liquidation sales - right before departing.
Day 145. Returned to the crime scene for an inspiring conversation with a Salesforce guru. Invaluable input for my project with the American Red Cross. Enthusiasm is contagious.
Day 144. Continued liquidation sales by organizing a pop-up flea market at home. Managed to reach great customers, exactly of my size, through Sharetribe and Facebook. Online and offline shake hands.
Day 143. Things are getting very hipster here... Had my first raw food meal at the Restaurant Day: zucchini "pasta" with tomato sauce, avocado dip and a nut cracker.
Day 142. The last Saturday in Helsinki for a while. One final night of good times with friends and colleagues. Soaked in luxury with so many cool people in one place. Thank you everyone for showing up!
Day 141. 5000+ runners will participate in HCM tomorrow. Saw many excited faces today at the expo when picking up bibs for a bit shorter adventure.
Day 140. Discovered laap in Luang Namtha in 2011. As there are no Lao restaurants in Helsinki, I'm always delighted if I spot this spicy salad on the menu of a Thai restaurant, like today in Korphai.
Day 139. "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything." The key take-away of the play Robin Hood's Heart summarized by Einstein.
Day 138. Have you met the Wise Mouse who hangs around in the stairway in front of the National Archives? Probably the smallest statue in the city. And the cutest, if you ask me.
Day 137. Harvest time at the vegetable patch. A garden gnome helped out. We also picked a bucket of red currants and rendered them into juice. So hipster!
Days 133-136. The long-awaited race weekend was terrific. Kuopio Triathlon (1.5km swim / 40km cycling / 10km run) went above and beyond expectations.
Day 132. After murky lakes, the Swimming Stadium feels like the Caribbean: turquoise water and so many people. Test-drove my new Zoggs swimming goggles. Both smoke and amber lenses approved.
Day 131. The first record by Debbiefox is out. Such a little gem. Melodic living room rock from Helsinki.
