people don’t need reasons to dislike things… like i get the feeling that people (esp politically active people) are often expected to dislike something for a reason but like. nope. i’m just not a huge fan of snow white. it’s not bc it’s sexist or anything i just personally like the songs and characters in other films more. it’s not that deep

“representation matters” and “fiction doesn’t affect reality” are mutually exclusive. you can not have both. if representation in fiction is important, fiction is affecting reality. fiction affects how people feel and influences their outlook. that’s not something anyone can deny.

i went in the rey tag and did a count for science lmao. i looked at the first 100 posts in the tag, and out of that 100, only 20 had nothing to do with kylo or rwylo. if you go into the rey tag, looking for rey content, eighty percent of that is going to be about reylo or kylo, not rey. and out of those 20 that didnt have kylo or reylo, a lot were general posts with all star wars women, or general posts with all sequel trilogy stuff

i also wanted to see if it went both ways, so i went into the kylo ren tag. out of the first 100 posts, 52 were about kylo, and had nothing to do with reylo. so not nearly as bad a margin as rey’s tag (although admittedly 48% is a little too much) but i did notice that the reylo posts were more kylo centric in both the kylo and rey tags

the tag for the character of rey is filled with one ship. some of the posts in that tag didn’t even have rey in them, it was a post just about kylo with rey tagged on it for some reason.

this is why people are sick of reylo shippers and kylo stans. their stuff is EVERYWHERE and drowns out the content people often actually look for
