This song is so important.
Harry wrote it, decided to name it “If I could fly”. He’s the one that literally put his heart, his deep and raw feelings out in the open for us to see.
It is so intimate, the chorus clearly says “ For your eyes only “, and I almost feel like I shouldn’t listen to it. Because it’s Harry’s confession to someone that means everything to him.
That’s when it hit me, we don’t get to see it. We have the priviledge to hear about it, but it’s not for us to see. We never get to see this vulnerable, and so in love Harry.
Only this person he writes about does.
THIS SONG IS SO IMPORTANT!!
This someone is Harry’s most important thing. He could give up on anything, but never this person. He could give up his dream job, but never this someone.
This someone is a part of him, only meant to be his, the personification of his Home.
This someone’s existence is enough to erase the pain he’s never been able to show, the suffering that could never be seen from the outside.
He is telling this person that he’ll always be there to remind them who they are, because this person IS half of him.
He is telling this person that he is willing to open his heart, to put his defences down ONLY for them.

And now that he let his feelings, his love, his hidden self out, he tells this someone that’s what makes him Harry. That this love is what makes him who he is, and that it’s the most important thing about him.

Because he would literally lose himself if that were to happen. Because he would not be Harry anymore.

Now, just take a few minutes and listen to it again, listen to Harry’s voice, to Harry’s words and feelings.
Now tell me this isn’t about someone he’s loved for a long time. Tell me it’s not about someone he can’t imagine a future without.
