As long as you don't make any money off of it, you should be fine to make a fan game. Tons of people make fan games and are completely left alone by the companies who own the original property. Worst I've ever seen happen is that the company might order you to take it down if it becomes popular enough that they they catch wind of it and decide to be petty, but even that's not the hugest of deals, it'd just suck to not be able to share what you made anymore. The only time I've ever seen creators face actually serious legal threats for creating a fan game is when they were making a profit off of it. Big companies like Disney and Nintendo don't really have the time or care to police every little piece of fan media, so you really have nothing to worry about tbh, I'd say go for it

Yeah I wasnt planning on making it cost money tbh. Any potential fangames I want to make are purely for fun and with the intent of being free to play.

HOPEFULLY that wont be an issue for me cause I'm honestly excited to share things ive been cooking behind the scenes!
