something that a lot of people tend to forget is that jabber is good at judging people's character in a sense.
in chapter 14 he says to follo "you have what it takes." he predicted follo becoming a giver all the way back.
he recognized that rudo had a part of watchman series during their first meeting.
perhaps i'm getting ahead of myself but his assumptions on zanka could foreshadowing as well "you're a real damn sadist" "show me the brutality hidden inside you"
there's probably some more instances of him doing this but i can't remember
anyways he's an important asset to the raiders for a reason, and it's not only his strength. if his reckless decisions were that detrimental to the group he probably would have been discarded already, but it seems that whatever he brings to the raiders is worth the fighting obsession and masochism.

This kinda goes back to my point on the “mischaracterize jabber!!!!! He’s a fucking idiot and he can’t read” and why that’s a load of bullshit.
Jabber is arguably the SMARTEST character in the series. Not only is he probably scientifically smart with all his toxins and poisons and all, he is so emotionally intelligent that it baffles me.
he can throw out what seems like baseless egging on with zanka and high-induced rambling with characters like follo and rudo, but in reality, he’s already done a full scan of their characters. I find it so intriguing that he can just do it on a dime. It makes me think about how he harnessed that ability and what happened to him to develop such a precise way of digging through someone’s skin with ease to target their inner workings, if that makes sense. Street smarts, naturally high intelligence, who knows, because I don’t.
Love that you mentioned the raiders too, I imagine it must be mildly hard for the raiders to admit that they actually DO need jabber on the team. At first glance, shit, I’d think he’s probably an obnoxious piece of shit that likes getting his ass whooped. I imagine it amuses jabber too, watching people (especially his team!!) grit their teeth in the midst of his presence because he actually has the skill to go with all his crazy. I like to think the raiders don’t get along at all and just tolerate each other because Zodyl’s orders.
