Simple cast-iron columns dot the grand open space on the ground floor of Manhattan’s Puck Building. Built by the J. Ottoman lithographic company in 1885 and designed by the architect Albert Wagner, it eventually housed 30 lithographic presses and 400 employees and in 1892 was the largest building in the world devoted to publishing. In 1982 the Puck Building was renovated into a commercial condominium for architects, designers and filmmakers.
