90 Days of Prayer, Day 52 Hebrews 13:8 KJV “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” I feel like I should say Amen after reading that verse. So I’m just gonna say, Amen. As promised I am sharing a little more about the story of my father and his battle with AIDS. I really do not know much about it, as I did not learn of him having AIDS until after he passed. Then I had to piece the stories together from my memory and my understanding as a teenager, as many of my family members still do not talk much about it even today. My dad was an alcoholic and a drug user. We believe he contracted HIV/AIDS through his substance abuse. According to the CDC, the most common ways HIV is transmitted in the United States is through anal or vaginal sex or sharing drug equipment with a person infected with HIV. When I was younger I remember my dad having a Dr. Jekyll/ Mr. Hyde personality. You never knew which side of him you would encounter. He was extremely mean for no reason at all, and then the next moment the most loving father a girl could know. As a child I lived in great fear of my father; so much so that I felt a great relief when he passed away and was gone. However, it was not until recently did I acknowledge that fear and choose to move past it. My intention in this devotion is not to cast a shadow on my father; I loved my father very much. My aim is to shed light on the mighty God we serve. Our scripture of today (Hebrews 13:8) says that Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today, and forever! There are no multiple personalities with God. There is no question of his unfailing love for us; for his faithfulness. He is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, the next day, and into forever. I can account and attest that even in my sin, even in my distress, even in all the times I walked away from God and created my own storms, He still loved me. He still welcomed me back. He still called me his own. God is so faithful! But don’t just take my word for it. I am sure you can look back into your life and see where God has been there for you. Where He has been reaching out to you, knocking and waiting for an invitation to be your LORD, to be your SAVIOR. If you have turned your back on God like I once did, I encourage you to invite the Lord into your heart today. He is waiting for you. If you do not know him, and would like to have a personal relationship with him, He is waiting on you today too. All you have to do is ask him into your heart today.
