#YEEZYTAUGHTME // This is an audio recording from the first interview I ever did pro-FRESH-ionally, the first official and paid piece I've ever written, and first time I started establishing my love for the culture. It was on the release of the Air Yeezys back in June 2009, gaining insight through these heads who camped in front of @thedarksideinitiative for 6 and a half days. I witnessed them get their shoes shortly. I can say a lot about the subject (the culture of camping, releases, and the differences of today and then in the Bay), but I have to emphasize on the power of Kanye West, who has always been about the long game. In fashion specifically he's grown beyond the hype and enters the infinite possibilities of inspiration as well as education on superior quality while finding the balance of accessibility. No matter the price, no matter the gap between Hollywood and hood, at the end of the day it's about the people. I love how it's been aimed to walk away from all of this as "normal." Normalcy can be Supremacy.
