Tha’ Dungeon: Bianca Scott Interview
Interview: Bianca & Dj K.red.
K.red: Bianca, nice to meet you glad we could have you on.
Bianca: nice to meet you too, thank you for having me.
K.red: you just killed it with this song Rainbow. Tell us about it. What’s your process for writing a song.
Bianca: My process changes depending on the emotion. Sometimes it starts with a melody that won’t leave me alone, other times it’s just a sentence I write in my notes at three in the morning. I like to sit with a feeling before I try to decorate it.
I don’t rush songs. I let them tell me what they want to be. I think that’s why they feel honest I’m not chasing a sound or a moment, I’m documenting where I actually am. When it’s real, people can hear that.
K.red: Beautiful, you’ve been on a tear lately. Music video with Rodrick, you’re in the show immunity, you have an album on the way, man you’re running huh?
Bianca: I wouldn’t say I’m running I’m just finally moving at my own pace. For a long time I was really intentional about choosing the right moments, the right rooms, the right people.
The video with Rodrick was fun because it felt organic, and Immunity challenged me in a completely different way. Acting forces you to be vulnerable in real time you can’t hide behind a song.
And the album that’s really my focus. Everything else is just different expressions of the same story. I’m not trying to be everywhere, I’m just trying to be present where it actually matters. Also my Kingpin family has been keeping me grounded.
Kred: We gotta talk about her. Chanel, What’s going on with that?
Bianca: I figured it would come up eventually. This is going to be the first and the last time I ever mention her. Ok, Chanel is a big name, and I respect what she’s built. She paved the way for a lot of women to do what they do. That being said I’ve never spoken on her because I’ve never felt the need to. I’ve been focused on my work, and the audience has been responding to that. I think when someone’s used to being the loudest voice in the room, it can feel uncomfortable when attention shifts. But that’s not something I control.
I don’t wake up thinking about her, I don’t talk to anyone about her. I wake up thinking about my next record. If there’s tension, it’s onesided. I’m just doing my job.
K.red: So HER erotomania. What was that about?
Bianca: Her Erotomania was never about a person.
K.red: c’mon now Bianca. (Laughs)
Bianca: I’m for real, It’s a psychological term. It describes when someone believes there’s a relationship or competition that doesn’t actually exist. I was interested in how obsession can turn into entitlement, and how admiration sometimes disguises itself as conflict. I wrote it from an observational place, not an emotional one. I wasn’t angry at all. I was curious. If someone heard themselves in it, that’s not something I assigned that’s something they recognized. If the shoe fits I’m not going to lace them.
K.red: Anything else you have to say to Chanel?
Bianca: I wish her peace. I’m busy.
K.red: you know she’s going to respond to this.
Bianca: That’s her prerogative. I’m very protective of my peace and like I said, I’m busy.
K.red: on another note How’s this album coming along.
Bianca: Well you know, you’re one of the producers. Nah, it’s coming along well I’m excited for people to experience this. It’s not just a planet it’s a universe.
K.red: Who are your biggest inspirations. In life, music etc..
Bianca: Jewlz by the way she’s such a breath of fresh air. She inspires me all the time to be better.
Rodrick based on him just always being himself and never backing down.
DoubleWingChase is my brother we came up together in music. He keeps me going aswell.
Ofc my kingpin family I wouldn’t be where I am without them.
K.red: I just found out you were a member of soundwave, what happened with that.
Bianca: I was one of the original member of soundwave. Grey, Me tigga mook Andre. Then it started heading to a place I wasn’t in tuned with spiritually. It was starting to focus on quantity tha quality. Met Marco at Trigga party 1 and been with kingpin ever since. They’ve saved my music career. I wouldn’t not be who I am without any of them.
K.red: who’s your favorite artist right now.
Bianca: idk there’s not really a lot going on in music. Lizzy Hayward I guess.
K.red: anything else you have to say to the people.
Bianca: Thank you to everyone who listens, who streams, who shows up and grows with me. I don’t take any of it lightly. I’m in a really creative, peaceful place right now, and the love feels genuine. There’s so much more music coming, and I’m excited to share it when the time is right. I’ll see you all in the music.
K.red: thank you Queen Bee.
Bianca: Thank you for having me kred.
