Mike is my favourite character in ST but not why you’d think

I love every character in ST more than anything in the world and picking my favourite is very hard but for many reasons Mike stands out for me, and not just because he is played by Finn.

Throughout he has such an impact on the person watching and the other people in the show, all the while being the friendliest, probably most relateable out of all the children for me. The party are a great group of characters as they all depict different aspects of children who were outsiders in the 80s however, Mike stands out. Not only does he come across as a natural leader but he is kind in doing so, he is assertive and understands consequences more than the others, making him the best to help eleven out and be the person she needs who is the same age but also on a similar level of maturity.

He sticks to his self even during really hard experiences, similar to the others, but he seems to be able to maintain himself slightly better. He keeps his main goals in his sights and has a sophisticated determination to him at all times, despite being a young boy.

Not only this, but his casting was perfect. I think Finn played the role better than anyone else could have and really nailed how Mike would react to certain situations, he was well suited and brought something to the character that would have been hard to do with a different actor.
