My final post. A week after turning 30, I reflect:
What a year! I set an ambitious list of 29 things I would like to accomplish while 29 years old. I completed 22 out of 29 goals, partially completed 2, and did not complete 5. Several of my goals had sub lists (cook 29 new dishes, visit 29 parks, etc) so if I count each individual sub goal, that would add an additional 103 items completed. Most of these things I would not have tried or completed had it not been for making this list- I am grateful that I had this project to keep my year exciting and fulfilling!Â
I rode a hot air balloon, travelled through underground caves in Kentucky, went to Cancun with my girlfriends and ice-skated in Forest Park. I learned how to make old family recipes and jewelry from a scrap of wood. I indulged in the best St. Louis has to offer, from a massage at the Four Seasons to a night at the Chase Park Plaza to Shakespeare in Old North St. Louis.Â
A few things I learned about myself from The 29 Project:Â
I care about public space. I love cooking for other people. I feel most happy when I reconnect with an old friend. I am passionate about connecting with, supporting and learning from other women in leadership. I still care what my parents think.Â
I am only a few days into my 30s but I anticipate that this year will be very different from 29. I need a little break from goals and challenges but stay tuned for the #30project in the next few weeks. A year is a very short amount of time, after all, and I want to feel as fully satisfied after every year as I did after turning 30.Â
