hey folks! i still don’t have a laptop to play sims 4 on, but due to some changes in my relationship status, i’ll be moving over here.  The Simblerette is being cancelled, as well as my Sims 2 story. DTR will continue in December or January.

Thinking about doing something in TS2, so let me know if you have any ideas.

hey folks!! i’m sorry for the long absence. my laptop has been having some heating problems, and sadly, it can’t run the sims anymore.  i’m saving up, but i’m going to hold off until the post-christmas sales and then buy myself a gaming computer, so i won’t be posting here until then.

Tumblr Boycott to Protest Continued Lack of Movement to Ban White Nationalists

Tumblr @staff have been silent about the use of this site by white nationalist bloggers, while numerous other sites (see this post) have made actions to ban nazis/white nationalists/”alt-right”/fascists. Tumblr needs to know their lack of action is unacceptable. I love my tumblr community and want to stay, but if this continues, I will have to considering leaving.

I suggest we push back, and unite to boycott on a certain date. I’m arbitrarily suggesting September 1st - it’s nine days from this post, and that gives it enough time to hopefully get spread as far as possible. Boycotts only work if lots of people do it. Please consider joining me and logging off tumblr on September 1st, to let them know we’re serious about their apathy towards white nationalism.

Let’s also let @staff know that as they’re trying to increase advertiser spend, they should be well-aware of most ad tech companies (on the buy and sell side) have explicit rules against hate speech. You can tell Tumblr is aware of this because they’ve doubled-down on trying to locate the NSFW posts (quite badly based on how their technology fails so often) for what I imagine is brand safety for advertisers.

Given groups like Sleeping Giants has been successful in amplifying the voices of users protesting brands appearing on Breitbart, any other platform could be next in having their advertisers signaled with a screenshot of said posts where hate speech is proudly displayed against an ad served… well, you get the drift.

PLUM: “Um... Communication between us and the network wasn’t great.  We were paid upfront, so it wasn’t anything like that, it’s just that we didn’t really have any idea what was going on.  We didn’t even know what caused the fire until a couple of months ago.

HAYDEN: “I’m just really glad she’s okay, you know?  It was pretty terrifying when it all happened, and then there was all this network talk about stuff I still don’t really understand...

“We weren’t allowed to go see them, either, in case paparazzi followed us, so it was just really tough.  I did some video calls with them while they were in recover, but that was all I was allowed to do.”

VIRGINIA: “Hello and welcome to Fun Meter Weekly.  I’m your host, Virginia Witt, and I’m here today with Tye Simmons, executive producer for 2KidsTV’s drama-filled Simbler/ette series.”

VIRGINIA: “So, Tye.  As I understand it, there was quite a bit of drama when it came to producing this year’s season.”

TYE: “Quite right.  Actually, with everything that happened there was a lot of push to cancel completely and rush to get out something with a new Simbler/ette instead.  The network, especially, was putting a lot of pressure on us to create as much content as possible.”

VIRGINIA: “But it wasn’t just the network putting pressure on you.  When you announced there would be a year’s hiatus before a new season, fans of the series were pretty upset.  There were quite a few petitions and theories.”

TYE: “Oh, yes.  My team and I were very touched by the fans’ concern.  There were some who worried that we were going to be cancelled and that’s why the second season was being delayed.  In all honesty, that was a real concern for a while, but ultimately they found something else to fill our slot last year, and we’re now set to air the second half of our second season tonight.”

VIRGINIA: “So there was merit to the rumours you would be cancelled, then?  Even after the success of the first season?”

TYE: “Now don’t misunderstand.  The network had some very realistic concerns about the series losing momentum if we took a year off to allow Vivienne to recover enough to come back on the show.  That’s why we chose to hold off for a year instead of airing half of it a year ago and the other half now.

“We used our summer hiatus and cliffhanger as an opportunity to do interviews and appearances like this one, and the network’s actually really happy with the way that everything’s been handled.”

VIRGINIA: “And how is Vivienne doing?”

TYE: “Um... They’re quite well, actually.  Mostly I think they’re just happy to be able to do public appearances again.  It was quite difficult for her to keep it all under wraps once she was out of recovery, and it was even more difficult for our combined PR teams to keep any leaks from getting out.”

VIRGINIA: “So we’ll be getting that big reveal tonight?”

TYE: “Yes.  It airs tonight in the usual time slot, so please tune in.”

VIRGINIA: “This has been Fun Meter Weekly with Virginia Witt.  Good night, folks!”
