It’s genuinely pervasive. I went to check up on Bella Hadid recently because she came cross my IG feed and fell down a rabbit hole of her ‘fans’ calling her a cursing her out, complaining about how she’s a horse girl now and not THE it girl model hanging out in NYC with her ‘cool’ friends (that made me laugh because of the convos about Taylor), encouraging hate campaigns until she’s ’back to her real self’. Like it was so fucking bizarre. And it’s everywhere! Every fucking celeb fandom is filled to the brim with unwell people who can’t detach if they no longer resonate with their little dollies. You’d never know I used stan Timmy C for yeeears because I no longer talk about him (no hate, lost interest). It’s just not an option for these people.

clock it!!! thank you anon!
I think that the rise of snark is tied to the intellectualized, "manager" fan who is a big fan of someone, but nitpicks for all the previously discussed reasons. It isn't because of the haters themselves, they just enjoy feeding into it sometimes.
a lot of snark talking points originate from the fandom itself for a reason!
i’ve noticed this in every fandom now. every fan wants to be a their faves manager, stylist and publicist etc., they all think they know better and just proceed to harass the people who actually have those jobs in their comment sections
because fans feel like they are shareholders in the entity that is their faves life
This is really noticeable with Taylor, but also goes beyond her: people think being a fan means being critical of someone's every move, what they do, what they release etc. and/or constantly fighting other fandoms instead of simply enjoying the thing you like. And to be clear, while the fashion stuff is fun to me, I don't actually care about it when it comes to a MUSICIAN because I am here for the music. The fashion is a fun part of the wider tapestry of what she is doing art wise.

my 2 cents about this way of thinking is that people feel that if they choose to be critical of the artist they are fan of that shows that they are immune to herd mentality and come across as critical thinkers. People can’t stomach being a fan to a grounded sense iygwim
the styling, the hair, the makeup
the sudden complaints about Joseph and Lorrie on the tl when it never used to be a thing is so odd lol this fandom can’t think for themselves, they just repeat what they see
concerns me about the lack of original thought in this fandom and how people are scared to be against the grain 😃
it’s like people need someone to blame cause they cannot fathom that taylor dresses this way on red carpets and on the street simple cause she likes to dress that way and likes the clothes
bingo!
The way people talk about Taylor's team annoys me because we have a woman who we know drives the bus on every aspect of her career including her looks and she is working with people she trusts and who have been with her through it all and they want her to move on from them because they don't like the looks Taylor has.
thinking that her team doesn’t have professional skills is honestly very insulting. Like please have a look at what they achieved with TLOAS album shoot
i hate the way people talk about her like some doll they get to decide on how she looks
like i’m not saying she’s never had a miss with glam or the outfit but i can’t support the way of thinking that has somehow become the majority thought that she has no autonomy over what she wears and how her hair and makeup looks when she steps out
The weak link in Taylor’s team is not Joseph (he’s actually been stepping it up lately), it’s Lorrie and Jemma. There are a bevy of celebrity make up artists and hair stylists that could execute Taylor’s vision better. The quality of their work is objectively subpar in comparison to their peers.
my question to you is why do you think that the makeup and hair stuff we get is not based on the briefs given to them? i would get your point if since day 1 they were bad and didn’t meet the potential but we’ve had amazing looks this year too like iheart glam is top 10 looks of her for me
Me! is actually a good lead single for Lover. Thematically fits the album well, shows the sonic move from Rep etc.
People just don't like that she doesn't do pre-release singles anymore when her numbers and stability show she doesn't need to do them and it is probably better that she doesn't.
this year has actually proven that lead singles don’t work anymore
Imo aside from a couple of the VW looks that felt like the clothes were wearing her vs the other way around, I think she's been very consistent and overall good with fashion since 2021. It reminds me of the same people that to this day continue to say that she doesn't pick good lead singles when that hasn't been the case post ME! It's no longer true but they're so used to saying it that they aren't taking in new information.
Tim McGraw, Love Story, Mine, WANEGBT, SIO, LWYMMD, Me!, Cardigan, Willow, Anti-hero, Fortnight, and Godphelia
like only one song that hasn’t done the numbers that others have done as lead singles but thinking about how different the lover and reputation eras was i can actually see why it made sense for Me to be the lead single 🤷🏻♀️
it was 100% on theme for ttpd and yes while i never hate anything she wears, this year has been like top notch every time she’s stepped out lmao just stunning always
that maroonish velvet dress and teu dress live in my head rent free
i really can’t remember the last time taylor wore something and i didn’t like it lmao i genuinely like everything she wears lolll even that dress she wore i think in 2023 with all the colors on it and people hateddd it and i thought it looked great on her
like i get why grammys 2024 look is hated but you can’t tell me it wasn’t on theme with ttpd the hair and all lol
her TEU performance look, Oh mary spotting look, the business casual look this year and so many more are genuinely highlights for me
I just can’t get on with the program that majority of her looks have been a miss which is very not correct to me. A rare miss is expected lol
I don’t like zendayas outfits most of the time and usually think Taylor looks great🫣😅 maybe it’s the boring midwesterner in me but that’s how it is…
taylor’s style no matter how much panned it is by the fandom no can refute that it feels very her! She’s not wearing clothes because that’s in style rn you know and honestly this year it’s been a hit after hit!
Magazine photoshoots should be fun.
ABSOLUTELY! The 2016 taylor vogue cover is still my favourite because of how cool and edgy it was
