In general, my tagging system is straightforward - I tag pokemon and npc/trainer name(s), I tag post/file type (art, video, screenshots) - but I also have more specific tags!

Artist tags

Favorite artists will get their username at the time of posting/queueing added onto the post! I also tag the username if the artist/editor is deactivated.

deleted work - Same principle as above applies if the blog exists but the post was deleted - or, if the art was reposted and the original source is no longer there.

* Deleted work/deactivations and translations are the only times I tolerate reposts of unofficial artists on this blog for the record - if I post a repost and seem unaware feel free to let me know!

With the pokemon teraleak going on and having those certain writings come to light... god do I hate being in the "has no reading comprehension" fandom more than ever.

Throwing aside how annoying the jokes about "omg pedo typhlosion???? Um not like us amiright????" and "lmao theres canon pokephilia smut i guess thats why its called game FREAK harharhar!!!" are, what really worries me is the people that are unironically treating what is clearly stories based on real life japanese myths/folk tales as being fetish slop. I've seen people suggest that the only way someone could write that is by being "wrong in the head", saying it was written by someone with a zoophilia/rape fetish, or saying things like "of course it's fucked up and weird it's written by japanese people".

With those descriptions you would expect that they found some ao3 dead dove level explicit fics in the files or something, but then you actually go to read it and it's just... nowhere near like that. They're beautiful written folklore tales set in a time where people still didn't have a grasp about Pokemon and so wrote about them similar to yokais: powerful supernatural entities that mingle with humans to either teach them morals or just mess with them. Hell, even before these leaks it was known that Typhlosion was based on the yokai Mujina (a shape-shifting badger), so it makes sense that it would be placed in a story where it transforms into a man to deceive a girl (whose age is never even specified in the writing, but people immediately decided it was a child so they could make pedo jokes and be shocked).

While sexual relations/assault is present in the stories, it is mentioned incredibly vaguely to the point that accusing its presence to be because of a fetish is laughable. The most explicit line you can pull up is "the man had relations with the Octillery and threw it back into the ocean". It is obvious to me that anyone who is shocked by this simply has never dabbled into any real myths and legends, because if they did they'd know how common story beats like that are in any folklore story around the globe.

It's a damn shame people can't act like adults regarding mature themes, because there could be interesting conversations regarding the information shown in the myths for world-building and the importance behind eyes, hearts and voices that is repeated in some of them. But instead we'll just get unfunny porn jokes and lowkey racism against japanese people. A damn shame.
