2026 Governors Ball SKZoo wooden token prep. More archived images that I am just now getting around to posting. I spent months finishing all of these.

One 2 foot by 4 foot board usually lets me make around 70+ SKZoo tokens. Slightly less of the AniTeez tokens as their heads and ears are a bit wider. Here, you can see I fit about 8 to 10 SKZoo per each 5 inch tall 2 foot wide board.

Then I finish sketching the details and chop them into blocks for easier sorting and for cutting the outlines.

After that I still need to file and sand the edge of each and every token.

I TRY to get all the slightly rough edges, but don't always succeed.

Then sketch and burn the back/tail side and the edges.

When I have months of prep time I try to only do about 10 a week. Sometimes though it is a bit more than that. Painting and clear coats take the most time.

Prepped and ready to make 70 more SKZoo wooden tokens. I have my master set of skzoo to keep their size and facial features more or less consistent. I almost don't want to paint some of the freebies and just leave them a stained color like these.

I keep making more unusual things because of various comments on Threads. Saw someone talk about how they saw a cat heard shaped door pull at IKEA and how it made them think of Wooyoung from Ateez.

I thought, hmmmm, maybe I can make that?

I did successfully make a Wooyoung Aniteez drawer pull, but I forgot that the head of the screw should be behind the drawer face and had to add a few washers as spacers. Still, now I keep thinking about making SKZoo ones.

Over on threads there is a group called Awesome Kpop Books For You. At least one of their admins is a HUGE Mingi fan and was kind enough to reply to my post on the wooden Wolf Chan ice cream bar. Though I cannot currently ship overseas, I thought I could make them a figurative gift of Mingi with their Threads name as the message on the ice cream stick.

I also mad a Hongjoong little Ice cream snack/cookie. The Hongjoong cookie has different expressions on opposite sides.

Since Mingi was the ice cream bar I wanted Hongjoong to be a different treat.

I use an old Detail Master IV pyrography tool to burn the designs in the wood.

First I will pencil out the idea in my sketchbook, then onto the board. Most often I'll burn it first and then cut it on the bandsaw.

After that I file the edges and sketch the opposite side, or build the other layers. The thicker wooden ice cream bars are 3 layers of 5mm thick plywood.

Green Fish is a Wanteez episode reference where the members are up to unusual antics in a green fish mask.

2026 SKZ Governors Ball freebie token prep from months ago. I tried at first to pull examples from the SKZoo Airline and the promotions of their Airport outfits, but there were SO MANY in such a short period of time that I kept defaulting back to the Karma Jersey's, S-Class musiv video outfits, and the style from the Step Out 2026 video.

I like how SKZoo are often shown wearing their own merch, but for contrast reasons I put Bbokari and Leebit sleep masks on Dwaekki.

Karma Jerseys. So much blue and black paint when I make 3 or 4 per character, but they are so straightforward to make.

Step Out 2026. Wolf Chans Sweater was my favorite among the 8.

Wooden SKZoo token prep for NYC Govball in June. THIS WEEK!!! I am not personally going but some of my phenomenal in town friends are attending. They just gave out 131 of my wooden SKZoo tokens about an hour ago at the SKZ meetup at Promenade in the Park.

Since Felix did that Adidas promotion I tried to sketch the 3 leaf design but couldn't get it a satisfactory evenness. As you can see with the ball with the three stripes , I tried that one too, but the tried and true 3 peaks or mountains was the easiest to make.

I also attempted to make little SKZoo faces wearing the Statue of Liberty crown on Govball shirts but though they look passable on unpainted tokens, they are barely recognizable when painted. So I didn't make any more of that style after these three.

When I made the SKZoo wooden tokens from Soul Beam, I saw that the Princely raiment that Lee Know was wearing had an intricate Hangul pattern. I still don't know the correct term for that edge part of the clothing, but I felt like Leebit needed it for his simplified outfit. So it may be very crude, but I tried to add the Korean word (쭈쭈쭈) for 'Meow' or 'PS PS PS' on the edging.

Just a quick 'How to' when I was discussing with someone on Threads on how to make the tiny sugar spoon trinket that was seen chained on Namjoon's belt during the Netflix Comeback trailer. How to use a punch to gentle tap the spoon handle so that when drilling it the bit wouldn't skate on the surface of the metal. This was a cheap everyday cereal spoon. Using a silver spoon would have been better.

I am pretty sure that everyone in the SKZ community has seen a version of SKZoo ice cream illustrations somewhere. These are my attempt. Not all are character Ice cream bars, some are macarons or just desert based.

I started with a Wolf Chan Ice cream bar. It has a message on the stick "Ask me about trains".

I did make a version with a bite out of it.

The red brains of Wolf Chan showing was too exciting for me and I had to paint back over it. It gave me too much of the bloody Jaws feeling.

Beyond just the ice cream bar I did a Macaron/layered Oreo style cookie for Wolf Chan. There is a children's wooden toy company called Tender Leaf, that gave me the idea for SKZoo macarons. Mine are not smooth as theirs, and differ a bit in style.

Leebit is another macaron, I should have just made the ears the same width on the cookie. Similar to how Wolf Chan's were made. I was unhappy with the lime green cream color.

FoxiNY was designed like a raspberry Jammie dodger. Or for this a JJammie Dodge. I've been told other folks call them thumbprint cookies. I eventually painted the top and bottom layers a light yellow, like a buttered cookie.

Dwaekki layered strawberry Chiffon cake.

There is a local bakery that makes mouthwatering cookies and pastries. I always see their decadent layered cake slices but never buy them. Had to make my Dwaekki version of one of their cakes. The ears are open to see the raspberry layer better and the back has a heart shape cut.

Bbokari Macaron. Apparently I didn't take a lot of individual pictures of it. Though I did make a lot of those Bbokari chicken/mochi skewers.

PuppyM chocolate sandwich cookies. Seungmin Snacks?!! Both sides have a PuppyM expression instead of a tail or paw prints.

Han Quokka Walnut (it is a piece of walnut wood) cookie and Cheesecake. I don't have a solitary shot of the cheese cake that I can find at the moment, but it can be seen in the larger group shots.

Every year I try to make a unique SKZoo related gift for my friend that is a HUGE SKZ fan. They and their spouse moved to become local neighbors and have now been here almost ten years. They go to concerts, have all the albums and will wax poetic about the individuals various posts.

Since they like Tang Hulu and Mochi, I made a series of SKZoo mochi skewers that have a whole range of expressions.

A local group, SouthEastSKZ; held a SKZ meetup around the time that the SKZ DominATE movie was in theaters. They are an amazing group of folks that host tons of K-pop events in and around the Carolinas.

The theme of their meetup was 'Magic'. So I tried to make magic specific SKZoo from various anime and K-drama as well as pulling from SKZ promotional events like their outfits from Soul Beam.

Of course I had to include other tokens from across the spectrum just to have 'enough' to give out to other STAY as freebies.

For the SKZsoutheast Admins I tried to make tokens that were unique to each person.

Wolf Chan from Galaxy Express 999. I know that Galaxy Express is more sci-fi, but when I was a kid and saw it, it had that space mysticism feel to it.

Han Quokka and Bbokari are sporting Card Captor outfits and wands. Han and Felix wore them during a fan meet I believe.

Wolf Chan Yu-Gi-Oh! None of them wore it as far as I know, but there is a clip where 3 Racha refers to how the 'bi-bi-bi-bibi' in one of their songs matches the intro in Yu-Gi-Oh's, "it's time to Du-Du Du Duel" intro.

Jiniret as Howl from Howls moving Castle. Han is known to be a huge Ghibli fan.

Here is a bonus Leebit dressed as Kiki from Studio Ghibli's Kiki Delivery Service, and instead of Jiji in her bag, it is Soonie, Doongie, and Dori. Jiniret hugging his Bbokari 'Angel' is just an extra I like to send when I make large batches of freebies.

Lastly, Leebit dressed as the proprietor from Hotel Del Luna during one of their Halloween events in 2021.

The event also had a Tarot card reader and after a conversation with one of the Southeast Admins I had an idea on how to make them a SKZ token that related to her activity.

I chose to make a 3 of Cups Tarot Card focusing on Leebit (the Tarot Card readers favorite SKZoo) and his cats.

I burned and stained the card before painting and sealing it. I almost preferred to raw look without stain and paint, but wanted the cats to be more noticeable.

You can see I struggled a bit getting the proportions right.

I use the mirror when I make tokens have unique images on the reverse side and want to showcase them or for future reference.

See that stain and unstained?! The bowl, the ice cream cup and the glass vase were the '3 of Cups' for the card.

I keep a sketchbook with all the 'detailed rules' on what the SKZoo are supposed to look like.

This is a walkthrough on how I make a token. I usually use a 1/4" by 2' by 4' lauan hardwood plywood panel to start. If the board doesn't have large knots or hollow gaps in the material; which does happen, I can get about 70 tokens from 1 panel.

After getting a panel and cutting it down into 5" tall strips that are 2' long, its time to decide the design. Is it a whole set? A theme? Or a unique request.

For this walkthrough it is for a Han Quokka token with guitar accessory from SKZ's. Using our basic SKZoo stencil, I favor 5B pencils, but pretty much any type work fine.

Pencil our planned version onto wood. Since I do all of my tokens with a hand held pyrography tool, I have to make small allowances when designing. Just because I can draw it, doesn't mean all the details will survive from sketch, to panel, the burn process, and painting. So often I'll simplify a shirt design, stripes, collars and other things.

Safety is VER IMPORTANT. I have gotten a large aluminum sliver in an eye before. ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION, and a dust mask if doing lots of sanding or working with wood that has silicates or unknown chemicals in them.

Now I use a bench pin clamped to my workbench. Quokka is in the clamp just so I can show a close up of the edge. I like to mark and burn the edges on the character tokens so the shirts and such line up on the backside. I know a laser can make them perfect but the edge usually suffers from a solid 'edge burn' effect.

I do file the edges and sand them lightly after cutting them on the bandsaw. You could use a scroll saw or coping saw as well.

Choosing a drill bit to use on the drill press to inset magnets on the token and guitar so they can 'clip together' for display.

I tend to use Titebond III wood glue. OF course clean up the drilled area before adding glue.

Paint with your acrylic paints of choice. Then seal with a polyurethane.

That's it. More or less.

Some unfinished stacking wooden Skzoo boxes. I just added the face or back ear plates and add Easter eggs or details to the other sides.
