Struggling with this marker brush. I can only make anything of interest working abstract with this damn thing.

Switched over to the next tool in the Sketchbook Basic brush set: the vintage marker. Iāve never really worked with analog graphic markers so I donāt know how it compares to the real thing, but I it seems it would be hard for sketching. I seemed to get the most interesting effects from just drawing vertical lines.

Primary Pencil again with a monochromatic palette. Had the idea of doing a stylized animal of some kind. Just what kind of animal is that anyway?

So, I already fell behind by getting wrapped up in a more representational drawing. Iām not fast enough (yet?) to do a daily drawing/painting on the iPhone if Iām trying to make something look recognizable and to my satisfaction. I tumble into a fiddling hole. Fiddle with this, fiddle with that. And I just donāt have time for that if Iām going to keep on a daily schedule. Fortunately, what I was playing around with was using black and white and then coming back in with the color after, maybe on a separate layer. So maybe I can keep twiddling with the drawing in B&W and use a different red in a few days. And to get back into a daily post, I did this.
With this one Iām continuing to experiment with the Primary Pencil, with red + black and white. Itās successful in that i go it done.
Hex - FF0400 RGB - 255, 4, 0 HSV/B - 1°, 100%, 50% HSL - 1°, 100%, 50% Gray - 31% CMYK - 0%, 98%, 100%, 0% HTML - None SVG - None Much the same as yesterday except working on black instead of white. I tried to keep my outlines solid and not so sketchy. I had a clear picture in my mind of what I was going for. This wasnāt really it. Also, had so much going on today had to do it quick.
Hex - FF0000 RGB - 255, 0, 0 HSV/B - 0°, 100%, 100% HSL - 0°, 100%, 50% Gray - 30% CMYK - 0, 100%, 100%, 0 HTML - red SVG - red Since the brushes app seems to be dead and gone I'm switching to the sketchbook app. Here I just used the Primary Pencil in the Basic Brush set. And using just red and white.
Re-boot. Start again at zero. Red.
EE FF 00 - opened Brushes Redux and saw this. I vaguely remember doing this a few months ago based on an old photo someone uploaded to Flickr. I wish I could quote the source but the recollection is hazy. I'll have to check my Flickr favorites.

This is the gallery view of the last painting I was working on before upgrading to iOS 8 which made Brushes go kablooey. Brushes was the only painting app that I was using regularly. Almost all of 360 color art was done in Brushes, but I was having some trouble getting a grove going with it when I went to version 2 and then the iOS 8 fiasco. So recently Iāve been trying other tools, seeing what strikes my fancyā¦and now I just discover that someone has made Brushes Redux, a revamped version of Brushes that works in iOS 8!
So what tool will I use going forward?
FF FF 00 - officially in the land of yellow now. Playing around with Ink Pad, a vector app for iPad. It's the best vector app I've found yet. So I was playing around tracing a photo of an old tractor. I could keep going on this but I like the abstract quality. I think I'm going to leave it like that.
