My grandma, mom, and I are reading the bible in a year, 3 chapters a day. Here are my *very condensed* chapter summaries.

Psalms 31-33

[Psalm 31]

For the director of music. A psalm of David Oh Lord, I have taken refuge in you. Be my rock and my fortress. I hate those who cling to worthless idols. Be merciful to me, O Lord. I'm in distress, my strength fails, I am forgotten by those around me. I trust in you. Save me in your unfailing love.

[Psalm 32]

Of David. A maskil Blessed is the man whose sins the Lord does not count against him. You forgave the guilt of my sins when I confessed to you. Let all the ungodly pray to you. The Lords unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him. Rejoice in the Lord, all you whose hearts are upright!

[Psalm 33]

Sing to the Lord! The Lord is faithful and loves righteousness and justice. He made the heavens and the seas, and watches all who lives on earth. We wait and hope for the Lord and rejoice out of trust in his holy name.

Psalms 28-30

[Psalm 28]

Of David I call to you, O Lord my Rock – hear my cry for mercy. The wicked do evil – do not drag me away with them. Praise to the Lord, who heard my cry! Lord, be the shepherd of your people.

[Psalm 29]

A psalm of David Ascribed to the Lord glory and strength. The voice of the Lord is powerful and strikes with lightning and shakes the desert. The Lord, who is enthroned as king forever, blesses his people with peace.

[Psalm 30]

 A psalm. A song. For the dedication of the temple. Of David. I will exalt you, O Lord. You saved me when I needed help. Sing to the Lord, saints. His anger lasts a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime. Be merciful to me, O Lord. I will give you thanks forever.

Psalms 25-27

[Psalm 25]

A psalm of David I put my trust in you, O Lord. Teach me your paths and guide me in your truth. The Lord guides the humble – all the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful. Be gracious to me – I am lonely and trouble. My hope is in you. Redeem Israel, O God.

[Psalm 26]

Of David Examine my heart, O Lord. I have led a blameless life and have trusted you without wavering. Do not take away my soul with sinners. Be merciful to me.

[Psalm 27]

Of David The Lord is my light and salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life. My enemies will stumble and fall. The one thing I ask is to dwell in the house of the Lord all my life. He will shelter me as I sing his praise. Do not forsake me, Lord.

Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Psalms 22-24

[Psalm 22]

To the director of music. To the tune of "The Doe of the Morning." A psalm of David My God, why do you not answer me? You are the Holy One, praised by our fathers, but I am a worm mocked by man. Yet you made me trust in you since my birth. I am surrounded by enemies who fill me with fear. O Lord, rescue me. I praise you – all the ends of the earth will turn to you.

[Psalm 23]

A psalm of David The Lord is my shepherd who restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness, so I do not fear. I will dwell in the Lord's house forever.

[Psalm 24]

Of David. A psalm Everything on earth is the Lord's. Those with clean hands and a pure heart will receive his blessing. Gates, lift up to let the King of Glory come in – the Lord Almighty.

Psalms 19-21

[Psalm 19]

A psalm of David The heavens declare the glory of God. He made a place in the heavens for the son. the Lord's laws are perfect – keeping them brings great reward. May my words and meditation be pleasing in your eyes.

[Psalm 20]

A psalm of David Made the Lord help you in distress. The Lord answers from the holy heavens – we will rise up because we trust in the Lord.

[Psalm 21]

A psalm of David Lord, the king rejoices in your strengths – you gave him victories, for he trusts in you. You will swallow up your enemies. Be exalted in your strength, O Lord!

Psalms 16-18

[Psalm 16]

A miktam of David Keep me safe, Lord. Apart from you, I have nothing. I delight in the saints, but the ones who run after other gods will have more sorrow. Lord, you have given me my inheritance. I will praise the Lord, who is at my right hand and will not abandon me to the grave. You will fill me with joy and your presence.

[Psalm 17]

A prayer of David Hear my plea, Lord, and see what is right. Though you tested me, I have not sinned. God, hear my prayer and show the wonders of your love. Hide me from the wicked, as they surround me – rise up and bring them down. In righteousness, I will see your face.

[Psalm 18]

David sang this to the Lord when he was delivered from all his enemies and from Saul I love you, oh Lord, who is my rock. I called to the Lord, and I am saved from my enemies. When death confronted me, I cried out to my God for help. He came down from heaven to scatter the enemy. You've rescued me from my foes, because I have kept the ways of the Lord. His way is perfect. He arms me with strength, and I crushed my enemies. You have made me head of all the nations. I will sing praises to your name.

Psalms 13-15

[Psalm 13]

A psalm of David How long will you hide from me, Lord? How long will my enemies triumph over me? Look on me and answer, O Lord my God. I trust your unfailing love and will sing to you – you've been good to me.

[Psalm 14]

Of David The fool says there is no God. The Lord looks down from heaven and sees no one that's good. Evildoers don't learn that God is with the righteous. Let salvation come for Israel!

[Psalm 15]

A psalm of David Lord, who made 12 things your sanctuary? He who is blameless and speaks truth, who does his neighbor no wrong, and honors those who fear the Lord. He will never be shaken.

Psalms 9-12

[Psalm 9]

A psalm of David I will praise you, O Lord. You have destroyed the wicked - even memories of them have perished. The Lord will judge the world with righteousness. Sing praises to Him. Lord, have mercy on me. Let nations know they are but men.

[Psalm 10]

Lord, why do you hide in times of trouble? The wicked man is prideful and greedy, and reviled the Lord. He preys on the helpless. Arise, O God. Help the victims and bring down the wicked. Defend the fatherless and oppressed.

[Psalm 11]

For the director of music. Of David I take refuge in the Lord when the enemies prepare to attack. The Lord examines the righteous but hates the wicked.

[Psalm 12]

A psalm of David Help, Lord. The faithful men have vanished. Cut off all flattering lips and boastful tongues. The Lord said He will arise because of the oppression of the weak. Keep us safe from the wicked, O Lord.

A psalm of David Be merciful to me, O Lord. I weep all night because of my foes. The Lord has heard my cry for mercy, and my enemies will turn back in disgrace. 

[Psalm 7]

A shiggaion of David about Cush O Lord my God, save me from my enemies. If I have done evil to him, let my enemy destroy me. God, you are righteous, and I will give thanks to you. 

[Psalm 8] 

A psalm of David Lord, how majestic you are. Man is not worthy, yet you made him ruler over all creatures on earth.

Psalms 1-5

BOOK 1

[Psalm 1]

The man who meditates on the Lord's law and avoids evil is blessed. The wicked, however, will perish. 

[Psalm 2]

The Lord scoffs at nations that conspire together against Him. Kings should be wise and serve the Lord with fear and be blessed and not destroyed. 

[Psalm 3] 

Psalm when David was fleeing Absalom I have many foes, but the Lord is my shield. Strike down my enemies and deliver me, God. 

[Psalm 4] 

A psalm of David Hear my prayers, merciful God. How long will men dishonor the Glorious One? Search your hearts and trust in the Lord. Shine the light of your face on us, Lord. Because of you, I sleep in peace. 

[Psalm 5] 

A psalm of David Hear my cry for help, my God. You hate evil, which you destroy. Lead me, O Lord, and declare my enemies guilty. Protect and love those who love your name, O Lord.

Job 40-42

[Chapter 40]

The Lord told Job to answer to Him. Job said he was unworthy and would say no more. Then the Lord spoke to Job that He made the behemoth (aka. hippo or elephant), which is secure and not alarmed by trouble. 

[Chapter 41]

The Lord asked if anyone would try to subdue a crocodile. If not, who would try to stand against God? He owns everything. The crocodile looks down on all that is proud.  

[Chapter 42]

Job Then Job replied to the Lord, saying he knew God can do all things. Now that he had seen and heard the Lord, he despised himself and repented.  

Epilogue After speaking to Job, the Lord told Eliphaz He was angry with him and his two friends because they hadn't spoken the right things about the Lord. They sacrificed a burnt offering and Job prayed for them. the Lord made Job prosperous again and gave him twice what he had before. All his family and friends came to console him. The Lord blessed Job now more than before, and he died later, old and full of years.

Job 37-39

[Chapter 37]

Elihu noted God's majesty and power, and that God is beyond reach and is revered by man. 

[Chapter 38]

The Lord spoke through the storm, asking who was speaking words without knowledge. The Lord asked who has done any of the things that He has done (e.g. take earth and shake the wicked from it). 

[Chapter 39]

The Lord continued rhetorically by asking who has basically done everything, such as wisdom to creatures (the answer is Him, of course).

Job 34-36

[Chapter 34]

Elihu said that God repays man for what he has done. God is in charge of the whole world. God is just and sees everything. Elihu called Job a wicked unrepentful man. 

[Chapter 35]

Elihu continued, saying Job being all righteous didn't affect God, and that the Almighty surely doesn't need to pay attention to Job's complaints when He doesn't even have to listen to people who praise Him. 

[Chapter 36]

Elihu continued that God exalts righteous men and corrects men bound in chains - by telling them of their wrongs. Elihu reminded Job to praise the powerful God.

Job 31-33

[Chapter 31]

Job continued by saying God knows he was blameless - if he had sinned, he should be punished. If he placed trust in wealth or anything other than God, he should be judged. Job's words ended here. 

[Chapter 32]

Elihu Elihu was younger than the three men who were speaking with Job and was frustrated that Job justified himself instead of God. Now Elihu spoke up, saying he had kept quiet to listen to each person and because he thought age equated with wisdom. 

[Chapter 33]

Elihu said that Job was wrong in saying God ignored him, because God speaks in different ways. If Job had an angel on his side, he would be restored. Elihu told Job to listen to him so he could teach Job wisdom.

Job 28-30

[Chapter 28]

Job continued by saying that man mines for treasures in the earth but cannot comprehend the worth of wisdom - it cannot be found. God alone knows where wisdom and understanding dwell - He said to man, "The fear of the Lord - that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding."

[Chapter 29]

Job longed for the past when God watched over him and blessed his house. Job was respected by all. He helped the needy. 

[Chapter 30]

But now Job was mocked by even people younger than him, whose fathers he wouldn't have respected back in the days. Those who mocked Job were driving away his dignity. God wouldn't answer him when he cried out.

Job 25-27

[Chapter 25]

Bildad Then Bildad replied that God establishes order, and everything belongs to Him. Bildad asked how a man can be righteous before God, since man is not pure.

[Chapter 26]

Job Then Job replied that death is naked before God, and that no one can understand the thunder of God's power.

[Chapter 27]

Job continued, saying that as long as he lived, he would not speak wickedness, nor would he deny his integrity. He would hold on to his righteousness. He described the fate of the wicked to be one of terror as he loses everything he had collected.

Job 19-24

[Chapter 19]

Job Job replied by asking his friend to stop tormenting him with words. He said that God had wronged him by isolating and ignoring him. He asked his friends to have pity on him. 

[Chapter 20]

Zophar Then Zophar the Naamathite replied by reminding Job that the godless perish - even if he had plenty, God will vent His anger against him. His guilt will be exposed. 

[Chapter 21]

Job Job asked why the wicked seem to live on in peace despite refusing to knowing God, yet others are punished by God. Job asked why the others were questioning him, when evil men might have normal deaths. 

[Chapter 22]

Eliphaz Eliphaz said that if Job were righteous, God wouldn't get any pleasure from punishing him. Eliphaz then listed sins that Job could have committed, like giving no water to the weary. He urged Job to be at peace with God. 

[Chapter 23]

Job Job replied that he just wanted God to answer his arguments. He believed that God would not punish him. He had followed the Lord closely but couldn't find Him now. 

[Chapter 24]

Job questioned why the Almighty doesn't set a time for his judgment, as people are suffering, and that as the wicked prey on the poor, God drags away the mighty, even though the mighty had felt secure.
