You turned him away with words
Wanting open arms of love
met with words like “rapist beast”.
With hatred in your heart
To block refugees like Jesus
And to keep our worlds apart.
And you claim to sing his praise
And call yourself a Christian
Through rose tinted, bigoted haze.
He walks through internment camps
And holds the hands of the hopeless
Whilst you shade the guiding lamps.
They die waiting to be free
You ban flights from foreign countries
You bring to the land of freedom
The land of opportunity, choice.
You bring hatred and bigotry
You take away Love’s voice.
Jesus lives in hearts of love
In lives that fight for them
The people who long for freedom
And you’d crucify him again.
