one of my favorite hangouts. there's always live music.... and i think five cafes. (across the street from the music conservatory and next door to that concert hall. . . piano recital. . . )

there's ALWAYS a protest or demonstration going on right in front of the cathedral. this is a "sleep-in" staged by university students for the whole weekend. couldn't find out what for. . . .

if you look carefully, you can see where the REALLY COOL people party: on covered roof-top night clubs. . . and, they're amazing. No picture taking up there!!!!!!

so, the story: the first day-time picture showed a side view of "cathedral de la transfiguracion del senor de morelia". morelia is hosting, in addition to the huge multi-week music festival, an international "mapping" festival. it's more than just projecting pictures on the side of buildings. it can transform the building into something else. CMMAS, the people who invited me, are mapping the north side of the cathedral, with music and live bell-ringers. these are among the "least" spectacular transformations (and just a rehearsal).

once i've neglected my principle about photographing churches (of which there are MANY), i had to photograph The Cathedral!! (from the front and the side) . . . this is a lead-in to a story coming. . . .

no mexico without mariachi's, RIGHT? they, literally, populate the town-center street corners at night and hail cars, who pay for a song or two.
