So I want to sit down and talk for a bit. I've been in the veterinary field for almost twenty years now and I feel that I need to get this off my chest
For the last ten years, I have worked at clinics where i've had bullied personnel and coworkers.Even doctors tell me, i'm not good.Enough
Tell me I'm stupid or I don't listen or can't communicate effectively. Buts what they don't know is that I struggle with communication all of my life
It's something that I i constantly strive to improve, and ever since I became veterinary technician, I feel like that has i've made my life even more challenging to find the right job
I got seriously injured last year. That put some things into perspective about how I am just another person that can be replaced, or there's always gonna be somebody who can do my job
I want to become somebody who younger team members can look up to can come. And talk to without any kind of prejudice or judgments, and that's something that I strive to look for in my clinics that I am currently looking for in a new job.
I had a great friends and mentors. Tell me that I have strong initiative and drive to Stay in This Field. But let me tell you as somebody who struggled with mental health, this has been very hard to stay in this field that i've so passionately I loved for the last almost twenty years
I'm hoping to change the narrative with this speech
I want the future generation to know that even though right now vetment, it's looking quite bleak. And now we are up there with the one of the highest unalive rates. Above dentistry, it's becoming a very big problem that nobody there's a dressing, and it's it sucks to see this, especially in somebody like myself.
So I came up with a plan to strive to become somebody who is confident in their abilities. But also strives to find the right environment level, promote my growth as a technician. I also want to create an environment where my team members feel that they can come to me for anything knowing that I can help them with any business. Position that they might have as well. I've been all over the hospital. I've worked every position from volunteering to kennel duty to answering phones to even scrubbing floors.
I just hope I can find that clinic that will help me, and if not, I'm not hurt. But I just I want to change the future of veterinary medicine for my community and for my future, people who look up to us, to strive to make this better.
