WE KNEW THE MOMENT WE MET HIM...AUTISM & DOGS? Look...at...that...punum! Anyone that knows #SirBiscuitLoveNibbles knows that he is special. More that just "our special baby"...special. If its possible for dogs to be on the Autism Spectrum, our little biscuit man would be flying his colors proud. We love him SO much! And it kills me the anxiety he lives with day in and day out. In this photo he was about 10weeks old. And you can see it in his eyes. We thought he was just mild mannered at first, always watching. But then as he grew we realized, he wasn't still when picked up because he was well behaved, he was terrified. Once he found his ability to avoid being picked up he made sure it never happened again. It was his puppy "new world through new eyes" personality that made him jump at the sound of paper tearing. He still does it to this day, and will pee a little if a piece of paper makes its way fromthe notepad in my lap to his body by accident. It wasn't his scared puppy antics that made him run inside when the others would rush the fence barking at strangers. Now if he's not able to run inside, he starts snapping at zeus and Beau because he doesnt understand the loud noises or why everything got so roudy so suddenly. If derren or I make a loud noise (sneezing, dishes banging, door opening or closing...anything) biscuit will jump up barking and rush at us with a confused growl, smile, wagging tail, distressed look in his eye like "i dont know whats going on! But stop! Please!" He still does this when i come out of the bathroom. And the biggest one, strangers and eye contact. He can manage with a stranger as long as they never look at him or address his presence. He wants so badly to love them, he will sit against them, kiss their hands, but all the while staring at them to be sure theyre not staring back. My point of sharing this with you is not to make you sad, or to ask for some miracle cure. Biscuit is who he is, and we do everything we can to understand him and his condition to make his life as comfortable as possible. We just ask you do the same for any special babies you know or meet on your path too, furry or not. ♡♡♡♡
