You Might Be Surprised What Veganism Really Means
Hey, we’re in line for some absurd temperatures here in the southwest this week. This is very important to know and keep in mind. Be safe, stay hydrated, stay out of the sun as much as you can.
Remember kids, DO NOT chug half a gallon of water all at once. Go ahead and chug just a bit, but then make yourself stop and take sips consistently over time.
If you’re still desperately thirsty after having some water, you probably need electrolytes. There are many options - eat a pickle, have a gatorade (or whatever brand you prefer), add an electrolyte packet to your water, sprinkle salt on some watermelon, make a fun drink with coconut water.
Foods count for hydration, too! Juicy fresh fruits and veg, cold soups, popsicles!
Since we’re in for a scorching week even here in Sweden, I’m reblogging this as a reminder. Even if you love the heat, take care of yourself. Drink water!
To the surprising number of people commenting on animal rights posts to claim that "plants feel pain too":
Do you actually behave as if you believe that plants are capable of subjective experiences, despite having no nervous system and no brain? This is a serious question. Do you walk on grass aware of the fact that you’re potentially causing pain? Do you think about this when you’re eating spinach? Do you try your best to reduce the amount of “plant suffering” you are supporting through your purchases?
If the answer to all of these questions is no, then you probably don’t actually believe that plants feel pain. Or you do, but that belief is essentially meaningless since it makes no difference at all to your behaviour. If you’re thinking and talking about this exclusively in the context of debates with vegans then you are acting in bad faith.
That being the case, I think you then you have to ask yourself what it is about the claim that animals should have rights that you find so threatening. Why do you feel the need to occupy a troll position in an attempt to prevent an earnest conversation about of the moral issue of animal suffering?
Investigations since 2018 have exposed sick and injured animals languishing without care.
Hey, guys, would you like to help our animal rights heroine, Zoe?
Language matters
Our new mini language guide distils seven language tips everyone in the movement can start using today: 1️⃣ Lead with positive frames - “Animals are someone, not something” 2️⃣ Use inclusive language - “Our animal cousins” builds a bigger us 3️⃣ Avoid industry euphemisms - Say “killing”, not “culling” 4️⃣ Speak animal-first language - “Horses forced to race”, not “race horses” 5️⃣ Choose active verbs - “Testing on animals” exposes the action 6️⃣ Lean on shared values - Freedom, kindness, fairness, dignity 7️⃣ Connect with identity - “People who care about animals,” not labels that divide ✅ Monday move: Let's print this list and find a place where we'll see it often. Together, every sentence can lead us closer to liberation.
Very good.
I try and avoid engagementbait when I can but look at his EYES
I really need some good luck.
