you know when galinda tells elphaba that it wasn't her fault, it was the milk flowers fault? So … i think there is a very subtle thing, that ends up having a deeper meaning. Elphaba has carried this guilt all her life, blaming herself for the way her sister is and the death of her mother. But when galinda says this, maybe it takes away a little bit of that guilt, maybe elphaba can finally consider that maybe it wasn't her fault, and she can be more compassionate with herself … i think it makes it a little easier for elphaba, knowing that burden doesn't actually belong to her. And galinda in her simple thought, makes her see that.

thinking about how the best case scenario that elphaba can imagine in the wizard and i is that finally someone will come along who will be able to change everything about her. even in her wildest dreams, she views that as her best option.

and then.

along comes galinda. who - after spending an entire night attempting to give her a makeover - settles on: ‘actually, you’re perfect just the way you are. i wouldn’t change a thing. except maybe to tuck a little piece of myself in with you, just there.’

and i just think that’s neat.

yes! the details in the movie are amazing, there is a subtext in almost everything, and it's been so fun to discover.

i've also read that their outfits when they meet and when they go to emerald city are opposites: glinda is wearing a crossover bag when they meet, and then elphaba has one when they meet the wizard. and also something about the shape of the fabric on their shoulders (i'm sorry this is awfully explained, i can't find the post). but yeah, they're always complementing each other <3

actually, yesterday i saw it for the third time. thought i wasn't going to cry, but i cried even more than the other two times.

omg you saw the stage musical!? it is my dream, tell me more about it. and yes! after watching the movie i was very glad to discover the gelphie talk has been around since the musical debuted, there's definitely some gayness going on there.
