I think that most readings of a character can be valid, as long as they’re not trying to be harmful or offensive. This is especially true with autism in Doctor Who. There are a lot of characters that are seen as neurodivergent and/or autistic, especially the Doctor. I would hate to impose my own personal headcanons and such onto other people, though. If you want the show to be about funny aliens doing funny alien things, then by all means, you can do that.
However, I do believe that Adric “considered an outsider on Alzarius including in the rebel misfit group, had a fluctuating amount of childhood friends that he doesn’t really seem to openly care about, ties a lot of his self-worth to how useful he can be and how he can use his talents and skills for the better, doesn’t understand people and has explicitly stated this, has the TARDIS fabricate the exact same outfit for him to wear almost every day, has been repeatedly described as lonely and awkward even in the season 19 team of misfits, doesn’t fully grasp emotional responses to things like death, doesn’t understand social cues on numerous occasions, has been so blunt to people that it’s actively backfired on him and he doesn’t understand why, struggles with change during the transition from 4 to 5, implied that he sees maths as comforting due to its unchanging nature and logic, has only taken his badge off (to my knowledge) when its taken from him by someone else or when he’s about to fucking die, actively struggles with following rules including those set by the Outlers, has been shown to dislike participating in social gatherings and events, has a strong sense of justice and a personal code that he follows unflinchingly even when it means siding with bad people, actively emulates the behaviour and gestures of the Doctor who is considered to be Autism Sorcerer Supreme by many and is confirmed neurodivergent in other incarnations, doesn’t pick up on positive social cues which leads him to believe he’s not liked by his peers even though they all care for him immensely, takes turns of phrase and sayings very literally, intensely loyal to the point it sometimes comes as a a detriment to himself, implied to suffer from alexithymia, and cannot read a room to save his life” of Alzarius should probably consider a formal assessment.
