This series of imagery depicts the time faced within a work place of labour and progression, identifying different roles the wearer will encounter throughout the whole project from start to finish and how the garments interact with each function, almost identifying a scenario. Imagery was captured by Matthew Manning and each look was derived from the concept, stylised by Alex Luc.

Exhibition 02: ‘The planting of a Fig Tree’ by Chris Neophytou. The term ‘diaspora’ has its etymological roots in the greek word ‘διασπείρω’ (diaspeírō) a word meaning to scatter, ‘dia’ a prefix indicating motion in all directions and speírō, “to sow”. All immigrant communities have a relationship with distance, A sense of both physical and spiritual separation. This distance becomes increasingly intricate with the arrival of each generation, the growth and assimilation of one community into another. There are more than 300,000 people of Cypriot ancestry in the UK, 15,000-20,000 reside in the midlands, with a thriving community in Birmingham. The seeds sown by the first generation and cultivated ever since; the community centre, the churches, the weddings, christenings, the traditions manifested in family dinners, food, music and storytelling; places where that distance could be ever so slightly closed, where home can be found away from home, are now places that lay empty and seemingly lost due to the Covid-19 crisis. Where once people gathered loudly there is now a stillness, a quiet emptiness that seems to find its way into these photographs. It is through Britain’s colonisation of Cyprus that the islands history is so intertwined with that of Britain, and why many Cypriots have found themselves in the UK. Scattered 3373km from Cyprus we have not only planted the seeds of our culture into our community we have in many cases physically planted seeds. Out of Place books presents ‘The planting of a Fig Tree’ this June 24th opening 18:30 - 22:00 with a private viewing and book launch. This will continue until June 26th opening times can be found online.

Exhibition_01: Council House zine. A zine to document and display each artists work from our very first exhibition. Each artist has submitted a full photo series - some imagery of which displayed - to be included alongside the showing in the cccccc space. There is a limited run of copies and each one is numbered to 50. The hard cover features a bright orange riso print and high quality prints are on a silk stock paper throughout. The zine features work from all the artists featured in the exhibition: Alexa Jones, Tom Hicks, Ronnie Ackling, Daniel King, Ashley Carr, David Rowan and Josh Tip.
