Currently obsessed with ships where the participants never have said “I love you”, but instead have another phrase that over time just evolved to mean that to them. Like, maybe Jade asks MC “Show me.” relating to their abilities or something, and then MC does the same, and then the two keep doing it, and one day they start saying that with much more fondness in their voice. So, tying that into the soulmate asks: AU where the most important thing your soulmate says to you is on your wrist. What would everyone initially think upon seeing a phrase like that, and when would they realize its actual meaning?
LYRA UR MAKING ME SOFTTTTT THATS SO CUTTTEEE AND IM DEFINITELY STEALING THAT IDEA THANK YOUUUU
Caiden’s phrase would be something quite silly but more like an inside joke type of thing, like “I’ll lift you up” which references to the many times MC and Caiden have sneaked out or trespassed place, and Caiden often offers themselves to help MC up. And right now, you probably don’t even know what it means, before actually meeting Caiden, you’d think that’s a quite contextual line. But after knowing Caiden, getting to know them and just growing in love with them, you’ve realised that it has many meanings, because Caiden will lift up your spirits whenever, and offer themselves to you all the time.
Jade’s phrase would be something quite similar to what you said, actually, why not just that phrase “Show me”, it perfectly shows Jade’s natural curiosity and the bossiness of ordering MC to show them. At first, you’d probably think your soulmate is being rude (which, you’re not far off), or your mind goes to the gutter and thinks of something else, but as you get to know Jade, you’ve come to realise that Jade just wants to know more about everything, and soon enough, more about you. They want you to show them everything.
Bo’s phrase would definitely be something flirty, along the lines of “Hey you” or “Think about me”, one as a greeting and the other as parting words, cause you know Bo’s flirting will never take a break. It’s quite obvious the type of person your soulmate will be before you even meet Bo, though when you do, you didn’t quite expect them to be MORE than you expected. Bo is filled with layers, and those words, imprinted on your wrist, will be your saving grace, because you’ll know Bo doesn’t just mean it in a flirty way, but in a thankful way as well. They’re glad you’re in their life.
Tori’s phrase would be something rude that slowly turns into softness, because that truly summarises Tori. Something like “You’re so lame”, which honestly confused you when you first saw it, you know you’re not lame at all, but when you met Tori, it’s easily understandable that Tori just likes getting on people’s nerves. Though, as you grow closer, lame becomes some sort of compliment and it’s always followed by a soft laugh or smile.
Jay’s phrase would be very short, very sweet and just overall confusing. Something like “Look!” and that’s it. That’s all you’re getting. How can that possibly be the most important phrase, that’s a word! One word! But, when you learn about Jay, you start to realise that the enthusiasm of that single word is rare, and that when Jay really wants to show you something, it’s so worth it. Now, they’re so comfortable around you, that when you hear their enthusiastic call, so they can share something with you, you almost feel giddy.
Jun’s phrase would be the most contextual of them all, and the most rare. Something along the lines of “I need your help” Which concerns you evidently before you meet Jun, and concerns you even more after you meet Jun. Because they don’t say it, at all. In fact, they try to do everything by themselves, stubbornly denying help. When they finally take that branch from you, that single line takes a whole different meaning. And you hope from now on, they’ll be more keen on asking for help.
