Blanja.com: Creating an e-commerce brand to believe in
Empowered by Science, Inspired by Humans
UEM Group (a Malaysian engineering based infrastructure and services group) decided to merge three businesses, to create a new name in the Asset Management industry.
Landor’s challenge was to create a new brand that would redefine the industry. Our solution needed to be relevant to the market, and unify the workforce around one brand vision.
We transformed what is a very rational business in to one that tells a bigger and more compelling story. Emotion was introduced through a new Brand Idea, “Empowered by Science, Inspired by Humans”. This set the tone for a new business that improved lives and communities as well as infrastructure.
Our new name UEM Edgenta signaled change with all audiences. Deriving from the word “Edge”, it tells clients that our new brand is a cutting-edge market leader. It also tells the workforce that there is a fundamental shift in the business that requires their participation, through new behaviours.
An eye catching and iconic visual system provided flexibility across all brand touch points. Verbal branding played an essential part in communicating the new brand and engaging audiences.

Peripop launches.
The brief was brilliant. Create a name and identity for a range of products called Foxey, Pandy, Tiggy, Beary and Lamby! So we did, and we loved it. Designed to hold baby clothes, and as it fills, grow into the shape behind the names. Created to stand-out from the crowd, and on-shelf. Fashioned to bring a smile to faces!
Today Peripop has popped into Singapore, UK and USA, creating tons of poppin’ fun for both parents and kids.

Wake Up with Landor: What attracts customers to places?
Landor Kuala Lumpur has hosted its second 'Wake Up with Landor' event, the session run by Dominic Twyford and David Grant of Place Associates, which investigated the factors that attract people to destination brands. Primary research of the Malaysian consumer revealed that, in line with their counterparts in mature markets, four key factors influence success: People (the human dimension, service and customer service), Physical (the hard components of the experience, ranging from way finding through to car parking), Social (the image and reputation of the destinations), and Offer (the range of services and experiences on offer).
The talk attracted current, potential, and past clients along with industry media. It's a particularly hot topic in the KL market given the sheer volume of commercial, residential, and hospitality developments under construction.
The focus was on how contemporary brands need to demonstrate flexibility so as to prosper in KL's highly competitive and ever changing market. Clear parallels were drawn between customer preference and Landor's agile brand philosophy.
Powered by people.
1-Net is a data center provider, traditionally focused on technology and functional aspects. To support the brand’s expansion plan within the region, we challenged category norms and proposed data centers are the product, not the business that 1-Net is in.
Thinking and acting like a human, not machine, 1-Net brings a human attitude to life, viewing customers as people not transactions. Guiding clients towards business growth and driving forward through challenges as they come, we wanted to show people as being at the core of 1-Net. An identity like no other, 1-Net’s new mark was highly legible but also brought with it an emotive and personal graphic language expressing its core essence “Powered by People”.
The new 1-Net was launched successfully to industry professionals and employees in Singapore. The launch drew a huge positive response and has seen 1-Net become more valued in the media industry, now providing more services to companies looking for media-focused technology platforms.

Walter's Day 2014
To celebrate our late founder's 101st birthday studios around the network gathered on 9th July to mark their respect for one of the industry's pioneering minds.
Here in Singapore we donned nautical attire and came together to recap on a successful year for the region, establishing growth throughout South East Asia.
71 years ago Walter formed Landor Associated on a ferry boat in San Francisco Bay and today we have 26 offices around the world. Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta came together to cut Walter's birthday cake and thank him for establishing the brand agency we have all come to love.
All work and no play is not how we operate so in keeping with true Landor values we carried on celebrations in Potato Head bar raising a toast to the founder whose vision is as bright today as 71 years ago.
Happy birthday Walter Landor!
8 Principles of Storytelling joins the family
Wake Up With Landor - Storytelling
Landor recently hosted the next installment of our Wake Up with Landor breakfast sessions, taking guests through the 8 Principles of Storytelling. Hosted by Dominic Twyford, the event was the first to take place in Singapore and inspired everyone to go to extra measures when it came to telling your brand story.
A well-crafted, compelling brand story is an ideal way to get your word out, connect with an audience, and inspire loyalty. The Wake Up event explained how by applying our eight principles as you create a story, you can help people remember your brand—and maybe even fall in love with it.
The 8 Principles of Storytelling is now also published both as a printed book and iBook on iTunes. To find out more on our 8 Principles of Storytelling you can visit Landor.com and read our guiding principles.
You can also find out more about the rest of the 8 Principle booklets, including Luxury, Naming, Branding and Innovation by contacting [email protected] and requesting more information.
Dominic Twyford is Client Director in Kuala Lumpur and speaks on a range of branding topics across South East Asia.
Launching Lamoon in Bangkok
Landor recently developed the latest Jacobs Creek wine, Lamoon, which is now available in Thailand. Launched earlier this year the wine balances flavours unique to Thai cuisine and compliments many dishes perfectly.

Jacob’s Creek ละมุน (pronounced Lamoon) is a wine created to complement Thai cuisine. ละมุน is the result of a collaboration between Internationally renowned Chef Ian Kittichai, and Jacob’s Creek, the globally recognized and award-winning Australian winemaker.
The ‘quantified self’ movement, where people focus on self tracking for personal improvement, has been gathering pace for sometime now. Recently mainstream brands have heavily increased their focus on how consumers are viewing their lifestyle choices, and more importantly how they are taking...
The Business Neighbourhood gets a facelift
Jacob's Creek Lamoon is a blended red wine for Thailand, designed to match the country's cuisine. Lamoon is a mix of around 20 individual reds created in collaboration with Thai chef Ian Kittichai.

Angkasa Pura II is launched to the world!
Earlier in March Angkasa Pura II launched their new brand to the world in Jakarta, Indonesia. The brand, which went under a re-branding process in late 2013, was revealed to a number of industry professionals and employees at a gala dinner.

The new brand signature is called ‘Sky City’. Made of Angkasa Pura II’s globe, it symbolizes a company that is ready to compete on the world stage with their first class performance stemming from service excellence, and commitment to their customers. The logotype signifies stability and responsibility backed by the new vision from the management and embraced by all employees.
With over 17,000 islands to explore, 85 million people are passing through Angkasa Pura II’s airports each year. With such a magnitude of traffic, AP2 had the perfect opportunity to share their revitalized brand promise of first class performance.
