I ship Howdy x Barnaby and Frank x Eddie, so expect some of that here. I love hearing people’s opinions so if what I say raises questions, just ask and I’ll try to answer.

I try to keep this place for everyone and I am not comfortable with inappropriate asks at all.‼️

Hello everybody!

As you guys know, I tend to keep to myself when we’re working on Welcome Home and only come out of my hermit’s burrow to give us all an update! This is that! 

Unfortunately for May, the workload has been more than anticipated, so I didn’t have time to properly produce a Minute with Wally like I hoped I could…! I hope this will suffice instead! (We also hope to do one next month if things improve!)

The next Merchandise drop is in the works too and it’s so so so sweet! It very much matches a very particular fellow! I’m also happy to write that most everything is available in our merch store found on the website! Each purchase goes to helping us keep building our happy home and promise future updates so the story can reach its end!

(Artwork by @downydig !) As for this upcoming update, I really want to keep everything a surprise, but I will say we have so much tucked away that we’re eager to share when the time comes! (I love hearing and seeing the reactions we get, it makes everything worthwhile!)  It’s funny to say, but much of this year’s workload has been spent on both Eddie’s update and every single update moving forward! (We intend to update twice a year until it's done, if things keep going well enough, for example!)

Also to know… We intend on dropping in the summertime within the next couple of months! Once I feel confident, we’ll offer a proper date! (I have to break our Updately tradition of me being late! I must break the curse of Home) All else I can say about it is…! Yeehaw! 🎤🐴

My only ever contribution to a welcome home OC 🤦‍♀️

I’m a little lazy so here’s a copy and paste from my artfight:

Olive as a character comes off as rather dull and blunt and isn’t a character… at all. Olive works as a backstage worker mostly subdued to howdy shop for minor repairs and shipments. He’s even got a whole signed document emphasizing that he is not allowed, under any circumstances, to ever show himself in any episodes.

Despite this Howdy, as a more talkative and open guy, pushes for him to reach the spotlight and probes into his life to see if he can entertain this new “Hard to please” consumer. Taking and enacting some of Oliver’s opinions into his own shop for better or worse. Hijinks ensue and Olive begins to develop feelings for Howdy, with howdy seemingly feeling the same…

Fun Facts:

Howdy temporarily added a mango section to his shop after discovering Olives love for them (whether this had romantic or money intention we’ll never know)

Olive lives right next to howdy (apartment style) due to budget cuts.

Olive smells rather floral and prioritizes his smell and hygiene.

Oliver is actually part rat but doesn’t talk much about it since it isn’t apparent.

Howdy deeply admires how Freeform Olive’s hair is and will ask to brush it here and there

There are 4 possible endings: (as info on the motives of the Marlo company and WH lore, as of typing this, is limited)

1. Marlo discovers the relationship and in a desperate attempt to save what’s left of their (mostly Howdy’s) career Olive leaves in the dead of night leaving nothing but a note on where he’ll be and how he’ll still write but cannot ever return

2. Marlo discovers the relationship and “removes” Olive from the program informing Howdy of the changes via a notice letter. All of olives stuff is gone and Howdy has no way to reach him, if he’s even reachable in the first place.

3. (Whatever canonically happens in welcome home happens and I try to fit him somewhere in there 🤷‍♀️)

4. They live happily ever after with children of their own and raise them to be good people (might post those)

Omg I love your howdy head canon post (the one about conversion therapy). Can I ask what lead you to this conclusion?

I wouldn’t say it’s the most concrete headcanon but I’ve seen a conversation floating around on the true wealth of the pillar family due to the jewelry of Hiya and Aunt toodaloo, and though it has a place to be true that they are of high status, I’d argue it’s only a really well put front to make it seem like their family is more wealthy and put together than they actually are.

Considering welcome home takes place in the 70’s, if howdy’s at the very least 25yrs of age, he would’ve been alive during the 50’s through 60’s where family image was heavily pushed and enforced by society. I do acknowledge that howdy being 25 still makes him very young for a conversion camp (being that at 8 years old it’d be the year 1957) but in the end it could also highlight just how important image may be to the pillar family, that they were willing to fix whatever they saw wrong with him “early” before it got too “unreversable”

Maybe it’s stereotypical but including the fact they are also butterflies seems like they’d care even more about image and prospect as they are seen as a “pretty” bug, whether or not that’s actually true.

Plus I feel like it could also add a more complex and strange dynamic between Howdy and his brother where his brothers is more obvious in his queerness yet experiences no consequences in the matter. (I may be wrong and something does happen behind closed doors)

Which leads to the idea that the family either:

1. Chooses to ignore it, of which Howdy is frustrated with as he was raised/taught that this matter was something to be “dealt” with.

Or a more frustrating (but less canon) number 2…

2. His family embraces it. They learn from media and from the growing times that maybe you can’t get rid of such queer attributes in a person. Which could lead to howdy being ultimately jealous towards his brother as he himself received no sympathy or kindness from his family when he showed any sense of queerness, further bottling himself up in these conservative values (and locking that closet shut)

There are many minor reasons that play a part with this theory like maybe him being older and possibly seen as more mature then his brother ergo he would “know better” but ultimately this is what I came up with. As of working on this post there has been people speculating something from the older bug audios but I’m not quite sure if those are canon anymore to be viable evidence.

Overall: Howdy’s family image and the time period, is what made me come to this conclusion

There's this one Welcome Home headcannon that's widely accepted, unanimously, that isn't actually confirmed in canon, but it'd be really really weird if canon contradicted that.

It would be really weird if Howdy wasn't a vegan, it'd be whiplash to see him eat meat. Like Vegan Howdy just seems like common sense.

I actually have a head-canon that the whole “vegan” thing is more of a social standard between bugs. Like it’s more so something frowned upon than anything medically detrimental.

But Yknow since it’s like the 70’s so I imagine being known for that gets you pretty much outcasted so any consumption of meat must be kept hush hush.
