[TIMES NEW HERO SPECIAL!]
Hawks new protege?
Hawks, one of the youngest heros to rise through the ranks we've ever witnessed, has become quite popular in recent times! Quickly becoming one of the best rescue heros Japan has ever seen!
You'd think such a popular hero would have a well known past. Or, maybe come from U.A!
Maybe a lineage of heros in his family, even!
And yet, with his charm, popularity, and fame not much is known about him!
We have no records of his family, school or even his real name!It doesn't help that he barely talks of his past.
We here at TNH HQ only know details from little slip- ups hes had in interviews, as do most others.
However, recently, hes introduced a new person in his life!
A lover, perhaps? Well, not quite!
In an live interview near shibuya, he introduced Tokito, his mentee and protege!
Now, young Tokito is only 11, but she already has great plans for her future and Hawks shares that sentiment!
Now, in this interview Hawks has been quoted saying: "Yeah, this kid right here? Shes amazing. Shes made more progress than I could ever imagine! This is the true future of heroes, everyone, and im honoured to have her as a sister, even if not by blood."
Naturally, our journalists and others tried to press him to talk about their relationship more.
Or, at least, just about her.
But, as you'd expect from such a secretive hero, he'd point to his "sister" and tell journalists; "If ya got any questions about her..... Let her introduce herself, huh?"
And so, little Tokito stepped forward into the mic.
"H-hello japan and the rest of the world! M-my name is Tokito, but my hero name is going to be Wing Hero; Falconette! My Quirk is Falcon....uhm, so i can grow talons, I can fly, and I can see up to two kilometres away from above! My goal for when im older is to save as many people as I can, just like my big bro! ... uhm....thats all I think-
Oh, no, wait! Im also against clipping! Its a cruel practise and I dont wish for anyone to go through it!"
So, future hero falconette ran off the stage to Hawks, who seemed quite proud of the young munchkin.
People with avian quirks all around the world are already fawning over our little hero for her stance against clipping, a practise amongst them which hinders them from properly flying.
Something which the poor girl had went through when she was younger.
Shes also the first recipient for wing-tip prosthetics, and Hawks has already confirmed that all the money they make from this interview sesh will go into charity for others who need it!
With the first look at the future generation of heros, us at TNH news are quite positive that we can expect greatness.
So if our Falconette is reading this; good luck dear! We know you'll make it far!
Hawks agency was always hectic in some shape or form.
Wether it be paperwork flying around, personel....also flying around, or lots of emergencies coming in.
Today, it was more hectic than ever.
Why?
Well, today was U.As practical entrance exam.
Now, Tokito could've easily gotten in through recommendation, like Endeavour's son Shoto, but she preferred to enter the usual way.
"Keiiiiiiii helpppp I cant find the wind resistance goggles!!! I need to leave in five!!"
Tokito yelled from inside her room, rummaging and stuffing items into her backpack.
If she had to take the train to U.A then she would have definitely been late. Thankfully she had other ways of transportation.
"Yeah yeah, I cleaned them or whatever. Were smudged, sooooooo......" Hawks came trotting over, putting them on her head as he ruffled her hair. "...........you came far, kiddo."
"Y-yeah yeah, whatever dude, thanks.... I'll do my best to get a high ranking." Tokito mumbled, adjusting the goggles as she looked towards him nervously.
Yeah, Tokito knew he was her brother. She knew he would stay her brother no matter what.
She knew he loved her deeply, as she did him but....
some irrational part of her brain was worried hed be disappointed in her if she didnt do as well as planned. Seemingly noticing her nervousness, he started talking.
"Ill still be proud of ya even if you dont get a top ranking, dummy. You should know that. But I know you will succeed. So honestly? I'm nooot worried at alllllllll."
Hawks handed her her backpack, scritching her wings."Now good luck Kiki,-" He grinned as they both walked up to the roof. "Have fun and dont faaaaallllll~."
Tokito grinned back at him, saluted and jumped off the roof. "See ya later!"
"Taking flight is a unique wonder. Not many are blessed with it." Hawks had said to her one night while teaching her how to fly properly again.
"So use it well and wisely, got it?"
Tokito had to admit that her brother was right.
Flying was freeing in a way that was indescribable.
If she had to, though, she'd compare it to being four, and on the swings for the first time. Swinging high up into the air, so high that you start lifting off the seat. Laughing and feeling weightless and carefree.
Yeah, thats how she would describe flying.
On the way to U.A she waved to a preschool class on the way to school. They recognised her instantly and started chattering amongst themselves excitedly.
She and her brother were famous in the city, after all.
"Good luck Kiki! We're rooting for you!!" One of the parents shouted. Tokito looked down and grinned, waving back at her.
"Thank you ma'am! Have a great day!!"
She hoped she sounded confident, because in reality, she felt anything but.
Yes, sure, she was trained by her brother, a top hero. And yes, she did pride herself on being able to use her Quirk far more effectively than most peers when she was younger.
But this was U.A.It was the best hero school in Japan! It had an alumni list of so many top heros, amongst them rank 1 and 2.
It was practically a requirement to graduate from U.A to be a hero, with a few exceptions of course! Hawks, her brother figure and idol, for one!
Saying the entrance exam would be a little challenging is like saying the Titanic took on a bit of water.
"But alas," Tokito sighed aloud, slowly decending to the ground. "I have to show the world what I can do. Now, let's do this!"
As she walked to the gates, Tokito noticed quite a few people gaping at the building. As she paid closer attention, she couldn't help but marvel as well. Who would'nt have?
On the way up the stairs a tall blonde kid bumped into her wing. "Ah! Oh- uhm, sorry! My name is.-"
"Shut up, idiot! And watch where you're going!"
He huffed, picking up speed as he entered the building. God, she had never seen someone so ticked off before!
Well.... at least not a kid this ticked off.
Tokito huffed, slowly lowering her outstretched arm as she made her way to the room. Well, so much for hospitality.
Shortly after taking her seat in the hero exam orientation room, one of the teachers at the school, Present Mic, started talking.
She actually knew him already, him and Hawks got along quite well. She just wished they'd tone it down whenever he came to visit.
They'd always disrupt her reading.
"Whats up U.A candidates! Thanks for tuning into me, your school DJ! C'mon and let me hear ya!"
......
......
Tokito let out a soft, quiet " wooo!" from the back, but other than that, there was silence.
Present mic was a tad shook, she could tell, but he hid it quite well for someone whos emotions were loud and bombastic.
"Keeping it mellow, huh? Thats fine, ill skip straight to the main show. Lets talk about how this practical exam is going to go, okay?"
Tokito paid a bit less attention to what Present Mic was saying now. Why?
Well, thankfully he didnt go right into explaining yet.
And.
Well.
She was distracted by a fanboy sitting nearby. He was mumbling on about Present mic and how much he admired him and other heros. Or something.
Sure, it was always nice seeing heros in person. She knew other kids were floored whenever they saw her brother.
It was definitely understandable but... did he have to be so loud about it?
She paid attention again when Presnt Mic started talking.
Aha so it was just like the application! So there were no secret things like Hawks suspected. For now, at least.
Tokito already started strategising before hearing the full story.
They had ten minutes time for the mock battle, and in an urban setting.....that leant she could use her quirk to fly up to the top of high buildings and scout enemies from there!
And as for destroying the enemies.......
Well, her talons could come in handy.
She hoped. It really did depend on what material they were made out of.
>Ah, right, there were different battle centres, weren't there?!< Tokito heard and mused as she looked at her card.
Ah, centre A! Neat. She smiled slightly, continuing to listen in.
Three types of villains, weak, medium and strong she was guessing.
Video game logic.
She then shuddered.
Why did Hawks have to drill that into her brains?
Wait,...Aha! She was right! And they'd earn points based off of difficulty..... hm! Fun!
And of course its just defeating these villains with yor quirk to amass points.
Hawks thought there would be a secret way to earn points as well though.... and she, although she thought it was stupid, trusted him. He was smarter than most thought.
What exactly that way was....she wasnt sure.
She'd figure it out when she was there.
And of course no attacking the other contestants. She wouldnt be surprised if someone would've gotten kicked out due to it.
She thought about the hot headed blonde boy she passed by earlier...... Tokito giggled slightly. She also wouldn't have been surprised if he were to do that.
A student from behind her asked a question, diverting her attention. "On the printout, you've listed 4 types of villains. Not three. -"
>ah. A private school kid.< she mused, fidgeting with a feather that had came off her wings. So the fourth faux villain had to be a part of the secret way, huh?
Then the boy addresses the fanboy from earlier. "And you with the unkempt hair! You've been mutterings this entire time. Stop that!"
The poor kids face went beet red, and Tokitos face morphed into second hand embarrassment.
After all, she would have been mortified if it was her in his stead.
Others did openly laugh, though, which she found quite rude. At least hide your amusement.
Tokito tapped his shoulder, and gave him a small thumbs up which he seemed to appreciate.
It then probably dawned on him who she was.
Ah. Shoot.
If he was a fanboy of heros he them must've known about her.
She hated fanboys who were wayy too obsessed. They asked too personal questions!
Both of their attentions were snapped forward as Present Mic spoke up once more.
>......-Wait, the fourth villain type is just a glorified blockade!? Hm, that couldn't be the secret point way then.<
Not that she was relying on that strategy anyway.
But oh well. At least one less thing to worry about.
Well, the rest of his speech was just wishing luck to the students, so she strategised once more
.>Mechanical villains... made of metal.... yeah, my talons can cut through those! I can do this!<
Tokito smiled, gripping her Backback firmly as she stepped onto the bus leading to the exam centres.
Stretching her arms, Tokito let out a small sigh of relief.
This was going to be the start of something great!
Tokito currently stood infront of Battle centre A, and she couldn't stop strategising.
> I know they said it was in an urban setting....but this was HUGE! < She thought, grinning. She had more freedom to fly that way.
She adjusted her goggles and brushed the dust off of her jumpsuit.
> Aim for the level two villains, the level ones are too easy. Fly to the top of buildings. From there stalk the enemies. Maybeeee....... 50 points? Hopefully more..<
From the corner of her eye she noticed the green haired boy from before staring at her and another girl.
From murmurs in the bus she heard she saved him from an embarrassing fall. She was used to people staring at her, too, so it didnt bother her much.
Even though her brother rarely brought her out into the public to protect her, lots of people still recognised her from her first interview.
She briefly wondered if the greenhaired boy was going to step forward, when the private school kid from earlier started chastising him.
Maybe not, then.
She giggled, looking away to calm herself again. Then she looked back at the crowd who were all nervously awaiting their signal to enter.
Her eyes widened as she heard (and then saw) present mic yelling from the top of a tower.
"Riiight let's start! Get movinggg!"
Yep yep, Tokito was already running towards the entrance, barely listening to what he said.
"There are no countdowns in real battles! Run run run listeners! Youre wasting airtime here!!"
Welp, she sure hoped she wasn't.
She was the first to enter the centre and not long after she took off.
Staying low to the ground at first, she quickly spotted one one pointer and a two pointer right beside eachother.
Expending her nails so they resembled talons, she lunged at them mid-air and pierced their metal with a sharp shrieeeeeek.
"Three points, in the first half minute. Not bad!" She mumbled as she took off higher onto a building, scanning the streets for more enemies.
"Aha!" She grinned as she landed behind a three pointer, cutting its head off.
Her plan was working wonderfully.
And Tokito stuck to it, flying from roof to roof and occasionally swooping down to destroy an enemy.
In this state, she did resemble a bird of prey, hunting down her next meal
...
Four minutes had passed, and Tokito couldnt keep track of how many points shed gotten. It had to have been at least 40.
Taking a quick rest on one of the rooftops, she was quite startled to see someone else up there.
"Ah, hey there...., " The boy said, tilting his head. He had a mask on, white hair, and multiple arms that looked like a bat wing. "Need some help?"
"Oh!" She instantly recognised the boy. They'd made quick friends on the bus ride there!
However they got separated by the crowd and she hadn't been able to find him since.
She quite appreciated his calm demeanour, and the way he didnt tease her for being shy at first or stuttering. Thankfully though as their conversation progressed she became less nervous.
"Shoji, n-no, im fine, but thanks for the offer!" She smiled, catching her breath. "How many points have you gotten?" Tokito asked, leaning over the buildings edge to scout for enemies.
"Just got my 35th point. You?" He stood beside her, one of his dupliarms gently outstretched so she wouldnt fall.
He couldn't let his new friend fall now, could he?
"Around 40? I think? Probrably a bit more, definitely not less....that means we're way ahead from the rest. from what I've heard thers only two kids who got more than us, so im not too worried."
She mumbled, her eyes darting from street to street.
There, another enemy!
"Hey, do you wanna team up?" She nudged his shoulder gently as she pointed towards the level one mecha. "We have enough points , I think. And we still have............ uhm......."
"We still have around 5 minutes. And yeah, let's team up, im sure we'll defeat enemies much faster."
One of his dupliarms, now duplimouth, sported a rare but genuine smile. "But do you think U.A will be okay with that? Teaming up, I mean?"
He grunted as he punched the mecha in the side, making it unable to stand properly.
Tokito thought for a moment, stabbing it in the middle of its head, before nodding. "Probrably. Teaming up, cooperating, and working together is one of the most important parts of hero work. Hell, it might even give us a few bonus points!"
By the sixth minute the both of them were truly exhausted. Though, at least they now had 51 and 40 points respectively, and were quite happy.
While they were both flying (mezo now being better able to do so due to Tokitos quirk) they'd had gotten it confirmed that not many students had gotten as many points as they did.
So, as a treat, they took a small rest upon the roof of an apartment building.
Sadly that rest didnt last long as the building started to crumble.
"Mezo, watch out!" She shouted, her eyes wide and panicked as the building crumbled beneath them, quickly grabbing his hand. "C'mon, let's get away from here!"
He held her hand tightly, using his wing-like arms to support Tokito while flying.
Once safely away from the building, they saw a giant mecha. The one that was responsible for the destroyed buildings.
> So that was supposed to be the zero pointer?!?!? Thats quite overkill!! <
Landing on the floor, they wached the giant mecha wreak havoc. And then.........
>.....no way. Was that the green-haired kid from earlier?!?!? <
Tokito and Mezo stared at the sight in confusion as the fanboy took down the mecha with one punch.
> Huh, he didnt seem the type to possess this power! And weirder, it seemed like the exact same quirk as All mights! And.. <
"DID HIS BONES JUST BREAK?!" She gasped in horror, looking towards shoji who had an equally surprised expression on.
"Last two minutes!" They heard Present Mic shout, before staring at eachother and snapping out of their awe.
Mezo and Tokito nodded once, before taking off to defeat the last few stray enemies.
"Aaand thats it! Times up!" Present mic announced, and the two teens sprawled out on the ground.
Tokito laid in the shadows of a skyscraper and Mezo sat beside her panting.
>Oh my wings are going to be sore for sure.... <
They had gotten 56 and 44 points respectively, and they were both quite proud of their efforts.
Mezo nudged her shoulder to coax her up, and when she did she was greeted by none other than recovery girl.
She grinned once more, her fatigue vanishing at the sight. Recovery girl was one of her favourite heros, but before Tokito could pipe up, she had asked them a question.
"Are either of you two dearies hurt?"
They both looked at eachother, then to her, before answering in unison. "No we arent."
"Goood, thats good, now have some gummies and water, okay?? Dont eat all the sweets at once." She smiled at them before walking away, leaving them to feast.
It had been a week since the practical entrance exam, and Tokito couldn't seem to sit still for even a moment.
"Kiki, theres no need to worry. You did well! In both the written and practical test too. You'll get in, and even if you dont, ill still be proud, okay?" Hawks had told her on day two of waiting for U.As letter.
He then rolled his eyes at her. "And dont get me wrong, you will get in. There's no way you wouldn't, 'kay? Now sit your ass on the couch and watch movies with me, and relaxxxxx!~ I'll even order your fave food, kay kiddo?"
In all truth, Tokito had tried to relax. She and Hawks even calmed down the training routine she had set up in preparation for the exams!
"The calm before the storm." She had called it once while Hawks laughed at the mere notion.
But still, despite all her brothers reassurances, she was never completely at ease, never fully relaxed.
She could tell that he was getting worried. The last time she had acted this nervous about something was when she had first moved in, and was unused to unconditional love.
Hawks really did try to cheer her up in any way he could; buying her favourite foods, watching her favourite movies, listening to her ramble on about mythology or history.
But none of them worked.
Well.
Almost none of them.
Flying always put Tokitos mind at ease. And, admittedly, talking with her brother about the various people she met at the entrance exam did help her relax.
"....so there was this other kid, right? All blonde hair and a explosive personality, but not in the fun way!" Tokito giggled, soaring through the clouds.
"And he bumped into me! And instead of saying sorry or whatever, guess what he did!!"
Hawks chuckled, resting his hand in his chin while he doged a pigeon flying in the opposite direction. "Heeeeee started cussing you out? If so im giving you permission to reciprocate that next time ya see him."
"Wellll noooooo, but close! He was just being a dickhead and rude and blegh! You get it, dont you?"
Hawks laughed and nodded, lading onto the balcony of his agency. Tokito hummed and followed behind him, humming to herself.
She was just about to excuse herself to her room when Hawks got a letter from one of his secretary, an elderly lady with a sparrow quirk handed him a letter.
"Kei? Is that my?- OH MY GOD IT IS, KEIGO GIVE ME IT PLEASE PLEASE!!" Tokito yelled exitedly and terrified at the same time, before turning beet red and covering her face. "A-ah, sorry!"
Hawks giggled and handed her the letter, guiding her to her room.
"Alright, you watch that video and let me know what the result is, yeah? Me and the team are rooting for you, Kiki!"
Tokito grinned and gave him a quick side hug, before running off to her room and sitting down at her desk. She was shaking, wetter it was from excitement or terror she wasn't sure.
She gently opened the wax seal with the school emblem on it, and to her surprise, she pulled out a small metal device.
> Of course U.A would do thos digitally. What else would you expect from the top hero school? < Tokito took a deep breath, then pushed the button.
A T.V sized, rectangle projection came out of the capsule, and right front and centre was...
All might? Since when did he get a teaching gig?
"Booyah! I am here as a projection now!"
"......how old was allmight again?.... no one says that anymore."
Tokito mumbled quietly to herself, before sitting up straight.
Even a simple hologram of the symbol of peace was enough to command someone's attention.
Even though his line was outdated. "Now young lady, you might be wondering why I am here! Well, you are looking at the newest U.A faculty member!"
"Aha, so he did get a teaching gig!" She giggled to herself, before paying attention again.
"Well young Tokito; you passed the written exam and the practical exam, with 56 points, even! You can be quite proud of yourself!"
She let out a sigh of relief. To hear those words was like getting 12 hours of sleep after the most exhausting week.
>.....speaking of, why dont I do just that?... <
"But wait! There's more you can be proud of! You see, the exam wasn't graded on combat alone! There were rescue points as well!"
> SO THERE WERE SECRET POINTS!!! awh damn, Keigo is going to brag about this for weeks..... <
"For saving Mezo Shoji from that crumbling building, we've decided to award you an extra 10 points! Which brings you up to 66 points! You've gotten into the top ten best students, at number 5 no less!"
Tokito let out an exited gasp, her wings flapping erratically as she tried calm herself down.
"Welcome, Tokito! You're now a part of the Hero academia!"
.
.
"EEEEEEEEEEE! KEI, KEI!! YOU WONT BELIEVE THIS!!"
She slammed the door open, just to find her brother infront of it, grinning. Oh he heard everything. The staff was behind him too, holding up a red velvet cake with 'congratulations' written on it with icing.
She couldn't help but fall into her brothers arms and cry tears of relief.
"Im proud of you, kiddo. I knew you could do it!" He mumbled as he held her in his embrace, lifting her up like he did when they had both first met.
Now let's get our top 5 girl fed, huh?

Tokito was wandering through the halls of U.A, attempting to find class "1A".
She had arrived relatively early so she could explore school grounds and get used to her environment.
She was thankful to her past self for making that decision, as she still couldn't find the classroom.
"Class 1A........class 1A....where could it possibly be?!" She mumbled, looking around
>Wait....was that? <
"Oh, hey, Shoji! Its me, Tokito!" She grinned, quickly making her way over to him. He looked up from his conversation with another student, one of his duplimouths smiling.
"Ah, Tokito, its nice to see you again. Are you also trying to find your way to your class?"
"Mhmmm! Class 1A, apparently! You?"
She then looked at the student Shoji was talking with, sticking her hand out for him to shake. "Ah, sorry! Didn't mean to barge in on your conversation.... my name is Tokito, its good to meet you!"
Tokito smiled at the student. He was around the same height as her, with tan skin, red eyes and the head of a crow. The last of which hadn't perplexed her at all.
Spending time around her brother, who only hired those with avian quirks or appearances, made her not really care about things that others would find "odd".
Allthough.... she hoped it wouldnt show on the outside, she was thrilled that there was another student at U.A with avian traits. The chances of her being singled out for it would be lessened, and having someone to talk to about avian struggles other than her brother was quite nice.
"You may call me Tokoyami for now.... and its a pleasure to be met." The boy, Tokoyami, shook her hand"And you can call me Dark shadow!" A....well... shadowy figure emerged from Tokoyamis chest, chirping the words happily.
"Oh! Hello too you too dark shadow! Are you like.....twins? Sorry if im intruding!" Tokito tilted her head, swaying slightly from side to side beside Shoji as they walked.
"Well, yes, in a sense," Tokoyami began, pinching the bridge of his beak at Dark shadows exited demeanour. "But They're also my Quirk."
"Ohhhhh! Thats actually kinda cool!" She giggled, only stopping her walking when she realised something. "Oh, wait! Uhm, you both never told me what class you were in! Haaah,...my bad.... uhm, I'd hate to have been following you both only to realise my class was in a completely different direction......"
Tokitos gaze flitted between the two boys, before quickly returning down to her fingers. She'd been told multiple times that her the whites (er, reds?) of her intimidated others.
Shoji let out a small chuckle, speaking up. "We're also in class 1A, dont worry about it. And I believe we're here already too."
"Wait, really?" Tokito looked to the side, letting out a sigh of relief seeing the door to their classroom. "Ah, well, lucky us for being early! After you two, gentlemen!"
She joked as she held the door open, her hair falling into her face slightly as she did so.
After entering, they were greeted by a blue haired boy with glasses. The same one who told the green - haired boy off during the entrance exam, Tokito realised.
"My name is Iida Tenya! It is a pleasure to meet you all, I hope our class can get along great!" After Tokoyami and Shoji greeted themselves, his gaze met hers.
"You must be Tokito! You did quite well on the entrace exam, im impressed!"
She tilted her head, her gaze staring into his, analysing him. It was uncommon for someone recognising her to adress her by her achievements. Usually it was that of her brothers.
She broke out into a small smile, red eyes gleaming as she shook his outstretched hand. "Thanks! You were impressive out there was well! Im glad we have such capable classmates!!"
"Speaking of our academic comrads....they are not to be seen. Have we arrived early?" Tokoyami spoke, already having wandered off to his seat.
Iida nodded, chopping the air with his hands as he spoke. "Indeed we have! Im showed that not many followed our lead! A great student is always early!"
After that they dispersed to their seats.
Tokito was a bit disappointed that neither Shoji nor Tokoyami could sit directly beside her, but at least they were all in the same row!
> At least I can talk directly to Tokoyami when their other classmates poured in< she thought.
Shoji was deep in conversationwith Iida, so she decided to talk to Fumikage and Dark shadow.
The latter of which was more talkative.
When she asked questions more often than not it was dark shadow who answered, sometimes even answering in Tokoyamis stead.
He did answer, occasionally, but the answers were relatively curt and polite.
And Tokito tried to convince herself that she didnt mind. After all, they had only just met, and she was told multiple times that her high energy regarding social interactions were draining for some.
So Tokito directed the directions to dark shadow instead. "Sooooo whats your favourite food Dark shadow? Mine is takoyaki!"
The shadowy apparition tapped his chin, replying rather thoughtfully. "Wellllllll..... I dont eat like you all do! Mmmm, Fumis favourite food are apples, though!"
Tokitos mouth pulled into het another small grin, letting out a soft chuckle before reciting to the best of her memory. "Did you know, Gods of death love apples?"
She laid down the quote, and for a frightening three seconds she thought he thought she was insulting him.
Then his beak turned up in a small smile, and he shifted to face her. "Ah, so you too are a fan of Death note?"
Tokito perked up, letting out a sigh of relief that he didnt feel insulted. Then she grinned wider as her wings fluttered in excitement.
"Yeah, actually!! I may not look like it, but I do love the more macabre things! Death not of course, but the works of Junji ito, poe, Tim Burton, and others always exite me! Horror is one of my favourite genres, and honestly I do love it!! Deathnote is what got me into it-"
Tokito paused. She realised she was going on a ramble again, which lead her face to heat up as she rubbed the back of her neck.
"A-ah, sorry! My bad... going on a ramble again!"
"I dont mind." Tokoyami said, twirling one of his rings around one finger. "Infact, quite the opposite. I quite enjoy talking to you about macabre media."
"O-oh, really?! U-uhm, well, okay then, thanks!"Tokito brought her wings down from their raised position, before continuing to speak, and just then Fumikage thought that he actually might enjoy his seatmates company
.
.
A few minutes passed, and there were still no other classmates to be seen. That was due to the fact that the new girl was invisible.
"Hiiiiiiiiii everyone! Im Toru Hagakure, its good to meet you all!" After they had greeted her back, Toru made her way over to Tokito, not wanting to sit down just yet.
"Heyyyyy girl~" Toru grinned, or at least Tokoito assumed she did. She couldn't see her, after all.
"Heyyyyaaaaa~!" Tokito grinned back, waving her fingers at her. The best thing about having a laid back and charismatic older brother is that she unknowingly copies his confident mannerisms.
Even if she didnt feel as confident.
"Girl! Your wings look sooooo cool!! Can I-?" Hagakure hummed, already reaching out to touch her wings.
Shoji looked towards them both, more specifically at Tokito. He had the feeling that if Tokito felt uncomfortable, she wouldnt say it.
"Yeah girl, its okay! Jussssst be careful, they're kinda sensitive at the base, and neat the metal tips, y'know?" Tokito grinned, carefully spreading out her wings as Hagakure grinned even wider than her.
She was rather used to it, and she quite enjoyed the sensation.
"Omg. I just had the best idea!" Hagakure grinned, running her hands through Tokitos wings.
"Yeahhh?"
"Lets be friends!!!"
"Yeah!!"
.
10 minutes before class started, more students had poured into the room, all exchanging names and greetings.
She hadn't talked to them to the extent she did with Tokoyami, Toru and Shoji, but she still knew enough.
Asui was around her height, and had a frog heteromorphic quirk. Jiro had a cool hearing related quirk, and was also just cool in general.
And then there were a few guys whom she, admittedly, didnt remember the name to.There were two she did know, though.
Bakugo, who was the blonde rude kid she had first met before the entrance exam. And she wasnt too shocked to find out he was still just as rude
......and then there was Mineta. A weird, short creep of student whom Tokito made sure to keep an eye on, ready to shield the other girls with her wings.
Like honestly?? How was he even in the hero course?!?
Why did he have to sit so close to her, ugh!
.
It was now five minutes before class, and the last few students poured in. For one there was Mina, who she made quick friends with as well.
[ "Oh my god girl I love your style!! Your horns look stunning!!"
"No because like, your wings like?? They're so cuteeee!]
.
Tokito was drawing mandalas on her hand, ignoring the chaos going on.
Iida was trying to talk to Bakugo, who was currently being abnormally rude.
This had been going on for a while, the crescendo coming when bakugo had put his feet on the table.
"Take your feet off of that desk now!" Iida said sternly, not quite a shout but loud enough to make his point clear.
"Huh?" Bakugo grinned, sly, mischievous and agitated.
Tokito briefly wondered if the boy had learnt this from someone, or if he was just like that.
"Its the first day and you're already disrespecting his academy by scuffing school property, you cretin!"
She sighed and looked towards the now open door. > Oh, the greenhaired boy from the entrance exam! <
Tokito hummed and continued drawing the mandalas, completely ignoring what was going on over there.
Then Iida said the two fateful words. "Its him."
And every other head turned to the green- haired boy. It was understandable, though. The kid had absolutely DEMOLISHED the giant obstacle.
In turn he had also demolished his body.
>Which was unusual, definitely. It was almost like.-<
Her thoughts were cut off the moment he spoke.
"U-uuuh, hi!" He stammered, blushing and looking away bashfuly.
Tenya rushed over to him.
>Perfect form for running. Kinda like the mall walkers in Shibuya.....< Tokito mused.
"Good morning! My name is Tenya Iida-!"
"Y-yeah I....I know. Uh.... Im Izuku Midoriya! Its super nice to meet you!"
>Ah, finally! I can put a face to his name...<
She zoned out again, only fading back in once Tenya said something interesting.
"...you realised there was something moreto the practical exam, didnt you?"
That meant she wasnt the only one who thought so! Aha!
Then it was back out again.
Nothing could hold her interest for long, after all. Not unless one was her friend and or if the thing was shiny.
Then her attention was piqued.
At some point the last student, a girl, had walked into the room. She had a sweet and bubbly voice, and Tokito remembered her ftom somewhere.... Oh right!
She was also in section A for the entrance exam!
A deep, quiet voice suddenly piped up, the suddenness of it making Tokito flinch. Dark shadow tapped her shoulder, looking at her quizzically. She gave a small thumbs up.
If she had been a bit more observant, shed have noticed Tokoyami who looked at her in concern.
But she didnt.
"If you're here to make friends then you can pack up your stuff now." The voice mumbled.
She couldn't see who was saying those words and what it was doing, but the three infront of the door seemed scared.
Ochaco even let out a whimper.
"Welcome to U.As hero course. It took you 8 seconds to shut up. Thats not gonna work. Time is precious. Rational students woukd understand us."
Tokitos heart sank a little, and she grimaced. >Well thats just what she needed. An asshole teacher.<
She thought she recognised the teachers voice, but she couldn't quite place it. It was definitely a pro hero...and he had to have met him before...."Hello. Im Shota Aizawa, your teacher."
She could feel the mood dim as they all let out a sigh of despair.
> This is our teacher?? <
"Right, let's get to it, put these on and head outside."
Aizawa sensei said, and Tokito could practically the apathy coming from him.
> Because of course we wont get orientation!< Tokito thought, her wings puffing up.
.
Tokito was miffed the whole way out to the courtyard, and had half a mind to yell at Aizawa sensei.
But she had to stay civil. >Just our luck! < She pressed down a sigh as she heard the next words come from their teachers mouth.
He called up Bakugo, the kid with the most points on the entrance exam, up to him. He then asked what Bakugos best score was throwing a softball.
>There's no way he knows the answer to that by heart,
- WHAT DO YOU MEAN 67 METRES??? <
Tokito was stunned. Not as much though ss when Bakugo threw the ball, propellering it with his quirk until it landed an astonishing 706 metres away.
Well, turns out what they were doing was a Quirk apprehension test. With 8 challenges.
And the person with the least points gets expelled. Because of course.
Tokito was confident in her quirk, or at least thats what she told herself.
>I can do this.........probrably.<
She hoped the rest of the class thought that way too, so that everyone had a fair chance.
Judging by the look on Midoriyas face though..... she doubted it. She zoned out when Aizawa sense went on a rant about fairness.
> Dont judge a book by its cover. Dont judge a book by its cover, cont judge-! < Tokito sighed. He had to be bluffing.
.......Right?
.
1st test!
50m dash!
She was already amazed by all the creative ways her classmates used their quirks to be the fastest. From lasers, to engines, to rocket propulsion, there was a variety of styles!
This round, she had been paired with Jiro, whom she felt a little bad for.
The only way she could win using her quirk was poking someone so they fall, and.....
"Sorry!!" Tokito shouted down from above, her wings both propelling and keeping her steady through the air.
》4.05 seconds! 《
.
2nd test!
Grip strength!
In all truth, Tokito was unsure about this one. You were at a heavy advantage if you had a Quirk that gave you strength.....
And hers just wasnt one.
Shoji had gotten an impressive 540kgs for his grip-strength, but at the same time she had heard murmurs that someone only got 56kgs.
So she should be safe if she had just a bit more than that.
>To be even safer, though.... < Tokito mused, growing out her talons. They made her feel stronger, even if they didnt do anything.
》66.5kgs!《
.
3rd test!
Standing long jump!
> Again, quite the interesting menagerie of Quirk uses! < Tokito thought, giggling as she saw Aoyamas navel laser in action.
Luckily, she could use her wings again for this test.
So, after jumping and flapping thrice, she easily cleared the sandbox they were supposed to land in!
.
4th test!
Repeated side-steps!
.........Tokito just stared in shock as Mineta used his quirk for this challenge.
She was half convinced he was going to no-clip through the floor.
While disappointingly not going as well as Mineta, she still did a pretty good job for herself.
.
5th test!
Ball throw!
Okay, so this one was a cause for concern.
Tokito wasnt sure how she could use her quirk to her advantage.
And she was on right after Ochaco, too! She had scored......infinity?
>Well, that was impossible to beat. But.....maybe.... <
"Aizawa sensei! You said we should stay in the circle....if I float, does that still count as in the circle?"
He raised an eyebrow, before nodding. "Sure."
Tokito took a deep breath, soaring up, up, higher still until the rest of her class looked like little ants. Then, she threw her ball down at an angle.
Now she was confident that she would land first before the ball hit the ground.
So, she let herself fall, before catching herself at the last moment and landing softly in the middle of the circle.
》320m!《
>NICE! <
.
.
"Girl, you did AMAZINGGG!!" Mina had grinned, walking up to Tokito when mr Aizawa had granted them a break when they were finished.
"I sure wish I had your confidence!" She blinked. Tokito almost didnt process the words.
She was too busy making theories on why Midoriyas quirk was so..... self harming. Then the words finally registered in her mind and she rubbed the back of her neck, suddenly feeling very sheepish.
"W-Well, im not always this confident, you know? Its actually kinda hard to maintain...."
"Girl, in that case, you're doing really well maintaining it!" Toru slung her arm around her shoulder, getting in the last word before moving on to other topics.
But Tokito was distracted.
She supposed she was getting better at maintaining her confidence, thanks to her brother
....Tokito thought back to a few hours prior, when she had woken Hawks up with her crying.
"Hey there birdie, what's going on, hmm?" Hawks had said, sitting down on the cool tile floor beside her.
"I-its just........its....urghh, its stupid. I knowww its stupi-i-id, and yet im still this m-mad about i-i-it!-" Tokito looked away from him, hiding herself with her wings.
"It may be stupid, sure, but I still want to know. It can't be that stupid, right?"
Keigo sighed, rubbing her wings gently.
"Okay....okay....." She tried to calm herself down. "I-im scared of getting into U.A..... I know I scored really well...b-but.... I dunno...im just..nervous...I guess."
Tokito was startled by Keigos sudden burst of laughter. "H-heyy! This isnt funny-y-y!"
But she couldn't help but to laugh along with him as he hugged her
"Kiki.....is that all? You're amazing at what you do. And what you do, you do great! Its just the late night nerves talking, 'kay?"
Tokito nodded hesitantly as he patted her back. "You've always been like this Kiki.... you get your nervous late night thoughts get a hold of you, and then you convince yourself that you cant do something.....Try not to listen to those voices, 'kay? You can do amazing things, and you've proven that over and over again....Dont let those thoughts destroy your confidence,"
.
"Don't let those thoughts destroy your confidence," Keigo had also told a 9 year old Kiki when she had told him about her nerves about learning how to fly again.
"Dont let those thoughts destroy your confidence," Keigo had whispered to a nervous 11 year old Tokito who was scared shed mess up her interview.
"Dont let those thoughts destroy your confidence," Keigo had said just a few weeks prior before she had written her first entrance exam.
"Because you can do it!"
.
.
.
Mr Aizawa then waved his hand, signalling the end of the break, so Tokito stood up and followed the group back out into the field.
Time to get the results of their test. Now it was time to see if Aizawa sensei was bluffing about his threat.
"Oh! 6th place......thats...actually quite good..." Tokito let out a sigh of relief, not minding that she had said the words aloud.
Tokoyami and Shoji had both walked up beside her, checking their scores on the leaderboard as well.
"Well, us three can be proud of our achievements. Top ten, no? We're all quite similar in power, so im not too surprised."
Tokoyami mused, and she and Shoji agreed by nodding. Tokito was always the type to silently enjoy her wins.
"What does surprise me, though, is how I was able to overpass you, Tokito. I assumed your Quirk was..... more powerful than mine."
"Well, honestly im not too surprised!" Tokito smiled, playing with one of hear feathers that had gotten loose
"And dont underestimate dark shadow, heh! He's quite cool! To be fair so are you, but, uh...."
Tokito rubbed the back of her neck, hoping he didnt notice the sudden flush of heat streaming to her face.
They were then cut off by Midorya whimpering.
>Oh god, he was in last place, wasnt he?<
"And I was lying, no one is going home." Aizawa sensei piped up, suddenly grinning like a maniac.
>Damn, this school loved catches, huh? <
"That was all just rational deception, to make sure you gave it your all during the tests."
Everyone was shocked but her and Momo, whom she had befriended at a hero gala months before.
You both shared a look and a smile, bonded by equal and paid off suspicion.
Everyone was singing their relief rom the heavens, but Tokito just leant against the cool stone and fanned herself with her wings.
Aizawa said his goodbyes, we picked up a syllabus, then headed home.
>Well, < Tokito smiled while she soared through the air. >Today was actually really fun!<
Random head canons I thought of instead of writing my fic
All Might calls NB people 'kiddo' instead of 'young man' or 'young lady.' He respects pronouns ofc
Oboro is really into film, especially pre-quirk era
Kurogiri is *also* really into film, but... can't remember why
Oboro planned Mic and Aizawa's wedding before either of them realised they had a crush on the other
Aizawa actually prefers his coffee very sweet, but has learned to tolerate it as black no sugar because people just assume he likes it that way, and he'll take the caffeine where he can get it
Kaminari plays video games with the LoV, especially Shigaraki; this doesn't impact their hero/villain work, because they both use online aliases (because Denki is a minor, so shouldn't share his name and Kurogiri insisted Shigaraki do the same as a kid and he never changed it)
Midoriya is a DC/Marvel fan - specifically Batman and Ironman, because they both fight without quirks and have really cool support gear
Tokoyami is into Tarot cards
Kaminari is really into horror games, which is surprising to everyone, because he gets scared so easily elsewhere (which is actually a valid reaction, considering they literally get ATTACKED BY VILLAINS-) In reality he'll play everything and anything, except Subnautica, because he has severe Thalassophobia
