how to have a sturgeon summer:

1. be quite large

2. use your barbels to find prey among the gravel along the bottom of the river

3. extend your siphon-like mouth to eat small fish, shellfish, and crustaceans

4. launch yourself out of the water and make a big splash just for fun

5. show off them scutes!

An idea that popped into my head while taking a nap: I want to do sticker preorders of endangered species and all the profits go to conservation groups of said species. I’d learn about each one and we can fund the efforts to help them!

I’ve been wanting my art to contribute to helping the animals I love in some way and I think this is the way to go. It wouldn’t be grandiose, but small enough for me to handle on my own + more cute art of animals. I have a few species in mind to highlight but I’d really like to get to know each one as I go so I’d focus on one at a time

If any of you know of or even work with conservations groups please let me know! I’d want to do both well known and more obscure species so any information helps.

I like to watch nature documentaries and animal videos in my free time, which is how I’ve found some of the orgs I wish to donate to. Instagram is also really good for finding people who work with and help these animals.

I really cannot overstate how perfect the Silly Sturgeon Plush is. Every aspect of it is even better than I dreamed!

The scutes make the texture really nice, it feels good to run my fingers over them and feel the seams around the appliqués. My little motif of a heart somewhere on the design works so well in plush form it’s so cute!

Its little face is so darling. I went with two barbels instead of the four that real sturgeons have so it wouldn’t clutter the design and it works really well. Its smile is so sweet and gentle, its little snout is absolutely perfect, and it’s just so CUTE!!!

The size is also great. It’s around 52 cm long, and when I spoke to a sturgeon conservationist at one of my latest aquarium visits, he said that makes the Silly Sturgeon the same size as a 1-2 year old real-life sturgeon! It’s literally a little baby!!!

I sleep with it alongside the Silly Coelacanth. It is so soft and it fits perfectly in my arms. I’ve been having a rough past couple of days (I’m doing alright now!) and holding it is really comforting. I’m proud to have made something that can give that feeling to myself, and I can really hope it can give that to others! I LOVE THIS THING SO MUCH!!!
