The deep mirrored archway in which this bath is set makes the room appear to stretch on and on. But even without the reflections, the room is singularly stylish with its two long windows, its judiciously placed green paint, its flamestitch curtain, and its table draped in green cloth by the white-painted commode.

The convenience of having more than one eating place near the kitchen is seen in this arrangement. For fast meals alone or with one other companion, the service counter will suffice. For full family meals or when entertaining another couple, the round table and rattan chairs by the window make a nice, out-of-the-way dining space.

This eating counter has so much character it could play several roles. As a dining table for two, it is a handsomely carved three-sided arrangement that allows you to sit facing your partner while eating rather than the wall.

Horton Plaza, San Diego, a surrealist jumble of multileveled styles.
It is significant to geek culture as it’s multileveled architecture inspired many sci-fi worlds. Part of the reason is that it was so influential to the visual arts is that in the 1980s, it was adjacent to the San Diego Comics Convention (as one of my many displays of old orneriness, I have trouble calling this event “Comi-Con,” just as I cannot call Star Wars [1977] “A New Hope”).
