This is a solar hybrid house. By Katie

The sun heats the solar powered roof and transfers the heat throughout the house.

There is also a opening in the roof where the heat can exit. I think the vent could be controlled so that you can monitor the house temperature.

Saving Energy In Your Attic

Hey guys! It's Katie.

Tips for making you're attic more energy efficient.

Look for National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) logo, it means that it was rated.

Look for Low-E type windows, they have a thin coat which allows light to come in and reduces heat transfer.

Plant shrubs and tree. This lowers your air conditioning budget and shades your home.

There is a site made by The Department of Energy to help you find what kind of heating and cooling you need.

Getting insulators with more R-value means the more energy you can save. Most homes must have a certain amount of insulators. If you follow the regulations, you can save a lot of energy.

Saving energy in the kitchen

KITCHEN ENERGY SAVERS-Sally

Move refrigerator away from the stove, dishwasher, or heat vents.

Door seals needs to be airtight

Use the dishwasher when it's full, but don't overload it

If the pots are same size as the burner it will save more energy

Have the lids on when cooking

Match the water level and temperature settings on your washer to the size of your load. Don’t fill the machine for just a few items.

Clean your dryer lint filter before you put in a new load.

Make sure your water heater is set to 120 degrees. Some thermostats are preset to 140 degrees, which can cost you more money.
