Gettin’ back in the groove with the new episodes

Here’s a storyboard sequence from “I Am Dendy” that I liked. It was ultimately trimmed down a bit for time, but the spirit stayed in tact. It must have been a hard episode to edit- if I recall, the original animatic was around 15 minutes, so 4 minutes had to be cut!! Not easy when an episode’s tone calls for a lot quiet moments.

Up until this point, we’ve been spending the episode so far with Dendy bringing KO into her world and her way of doing things. The tag scene is when KO invites her into his world. She begins to stretch a little bit and grow to understand him more. 

Dendy loves to observe other kids, but hasn’t played with them very much herself. I wanted to show her slowly understanding KO’s invitation to play. She has a brief moment of frustration when KO dodges, followed by the dawning awareness that the frustration is part of the fun as she chases him off. 

Dendy is one of my favorite characters in the show. It was a lot of fun to be a part of her debut episode!
