#Madonna, 1991
30 years ago, the world met Madonna. As disco music became the anathema of mainstream pop, Madonna was at the forefront of musicians who popularised dance music and brought it back into the public’s consciousness. The album was not an immediate commercial success but did end up selling over 10 million copies worldwide. The album was positively received by critics who believed that, “Madonna’s eponymous debut isn’t simply good, it set the standard for dance-pop for the next 20 years.“ The album still remains a timeless listen and Madonna once stated that Holiday is her favourite song that she recorded. Personally, Think of Me is my favourite song from the album (that saxophone). Although it wasn’t until Like A Virgin that she reached superstardom, this album definitely set Madonna in the right direction to become the quintessential pop icon.
From Rolling Stone: Madonna: The First Album
What are your expectations for Madonna's next album? I've noticed that she usually releases dance-centered albums like Hard Candy and MDNA and then a few toned-down albums like Ray of Light and American Life intermittently. What are you hoping for? No matter, I'm really excited to see what she does next!
Honestly, I hope Madonna’s next album is actually an album, and not just 12+ tracks put together on a CD. What I mean is that I would appreciate a “theme” album. For example:
‘Like a Prayer’ (her life confessions)
'Erotica’ (sex)
'Ray of Light’ (spiritualism)
'American Life’ (life confessions 2.0)
I don’t know, the theme could probably be something like, a look-back on her career. Maybe each track could represent an era, and it samples a single from said era.
Keep in mind that this is simply just a piece of my imagination. Knowing Madonna’s current situation, she’ll go ahead and release an MDNA 2.0. But hey, I can dream, right? I can also dream about her videos being released in 3D or 1080p, but we know that is most likely not happening, just as my idea. We’ll just have to wait and ee what she has for us :)
OK, hereâs the thing about Her Madgesty, and Iâm going to be straight with you: I donât love the Madonna of today. I tolerate her the way I might tolerate a beloved friend from kindergarten who became someone unrecognizable in…

Why isn't anyone noticing how much Madonna has influenced Miley's style?
