@bucktommyfluffebruary day 9: lazy day
Day 7: Sharing Clothes
for @bucktommyfluffebruary
Buck is late. Again.
Chimney chomps on his gum in mild irritation as his brother-in-law hurries into the station, grinning apologetically at him, holding out a to-go cup like a peace offering.
"You're making a bit of a habit of this, Buck," Chimney says warningly, but he takes the cup. At least it's not Starbucks, he thinks grumpily, taking a sip.
"I know, I know. Sorry."
Chimeny expects an explanation or an excuse, but Buck doesn't offer any, just slaps his shoulder and heads to the locker room. Chimney watches him go, the annoyance he'd felt earlier morphing into concern. He isn't Bobby, he doesn't have the Guide to Care of Keeping of Evan Buckley manual he seemed to, but he has known Buck for long enough to notice that something is going on. Showing up late, dark circles under his eyes denoting a lack of sleep the night before; he's been quiet, distracted, disappearing during down time, and as he comes back into the engine bay for the morning debrief, Chimney thinks his uniform looks like it's fitting less snug that normal. Oh, God, he's not losing weight, is he?
He's not Bobby. He isn't good at words of comfort and wisdom. He's the comic relief, not a moral compass. But if Maddie finds out he noticed something was wrong with her baby brother and didn't step up, she'll kill him. So he has no choice but to try.
He waits until Buck is sitting by himself at one of the tables in the loft to make his approach.
"What's up, Cap?" Buck asks, looking up from his phone when Chimney sits across from him. His smile looks genuine enough and for some reason Chimney can't look at his face while he tries to figure out what to say. His eyes drift down and catch on the silver name plate on his chest.
All the worried tension releases and he flicks the badge with a relieved laugh.
"Guess now I know why you've been late for the past three shifts," He teases as Buck looks down at his chest. "You've reported for duty at the wrong station, firefighter Kinard."
For @bucktommyfluffebruary day 1: unconventional kisses
This was unplanned and also my melodramatic ass is, by nature, ill-suited to true fluff. Have this, anyway!
I haven't watched the latest episode yet, but I really like what I've been seeing about how Buck is getting closer to the Grants. I speculated/thought it would happen now that Bobby's gone. And I'm happy we might actually get that.
I especially would love to see Athena and Buck get even more closer. Maybe not a parent-son dynamic like he had with Bobby, but something akin would be awesome.
Do you think Buck is gonna tell Tommy about nearly getting killed by a robot?
A robot almost killed me, but I saved myself with a clipboard and sledgehammer!
When Chief Simpson first spoke to me about a tribute for Cap, we debated what to do.
dinner
Pretend you sent his stuff back to him and it was lost by the postal services but you just keep it in the box until you’re ready to say goodbye
Not a bad idea, might use this one.
I don't think he'd believe the saying goodbye part, but I can definitely just mail it back and text him that it got lost if he asks.
Right now Buck and Tommy are lying on the living room floor of Buck's new house, half undressed and all fucked out.
Tommy is complaining good-naturedly about getting too old for sex on hard surfaces, and how *did* they end up on the floor anyway when the couch was five steps away?
And Buck is grinning at him dopily, even though there's a big bruise forming on his arm that he will absolutely blame on sparring with Ravi if anybody notices it.
Buck will tell other people at some point, but not yet. What they have right now is just for them, nobody else.
the concept of having tommy severely injured in a helicopter crash and buck being part of the rescue team after their many months apart. tommy thinks he's about to die because he's actually in a pretty bad shape so he tells buck he loves him because yeah, he's still hung up on their unfinished business and buck tells him to stop saying that because he's not dying. tommy keeps telling him he loves buck because he feels his end is near, but buck tells him that he won't say it back unless he survives this.
ofc tommy survives the crash, and when they are at the hospital, he asks buck if that actually happened or if it was a near death hallucination, and that buck doesn't have to say it back if he doesn't mean it, and buck is exasperated and grabs this stupid still injured in many places man and kisses him and keeps telling him "i love you" between kisses.
just a man and his emotional support tiny pumpkin 🎃
This is a Margaret Buckley who's on the path to healing.
It's why I need a BuckTommy, Madney, MargaretPhilip dinner be interrupted by Tommy's homophobic father.
I need to see Margaret and Philip continuing their healing journey by standing up for their son and his boyfriend.
As a fic writer, Tommy Kinard and Evan Buckley are getting a happy ending whether canon gives them one or not.
If they won't acknowledge this in season 9, I will riot.
wip wednesday
I've been tagged over the last several days by @beanarie, @firehose118, @apollabarnes, @leashybebes, @cecilyv, @devirnis, @wee-fuckin-woo, and I was too busy working on a big presentation to write or post anything. But the presentation went off without a hitch, so now I'm freeeeee.
Here's a new bit from my angsty wip! It takes place earlier in the story, before shit starts getting real.

Buck drops his head back against the cabinet door he's sitting against with a thud. "When we were… when we were together, at any point during that time, did you think I was—like, was I too much for you?"
"Too much," Tommy echoes thoughtfully, then clears his throat again.
"Yeah."
The deep hum that shivers over the line gives him the kind of thrill that he used to get whenever Tommy would sneak up and wrap his arms around Buck from behind. Buck had never been with someone bigger than him, and the thrilling novelty of it made him feel like he was on the best kind of rollercoaster drop every time. It never wore off. Sometimes at night he rolls himself into his sheets so tightly that it's easy to pretend it's not fabric holding him but flesh.
"Evan," Tommy murmurs, so fond that it's almost physically painful to hear it. "A week after you no homo'd me in front of Eddie, you came out to your sister, invited me to her wedding, and then made out with me in front of your entire family."
"Right." Mortification fills his cheeks with the kind of fire that comes from throwing water on burning grease. "O-Okay, thanks."
"For our third date…" Tommy pauses and swallows again. "You took me to that bug exhibit at the Science Center. We were there for four hours, and at least one of those was spent talking about centipedes. Only centipedes."
"Yep, got it," Buck forces out through the humiliation. He'd had so much fun that day. The idea that Tommy loathed every second of it makes him want to die. Why didn't Tommy ever say anything? Buck took him to that exhibit twice more before it left the museum and Tommy never said boo about it.
"You bought a human corpse and then made me drive two counties over so you could have a funeral for it." Humor overrides the weird rasp in Tommy's voice. "You made me put on a waistcoat. It was 84 degrees that day, Evan."
Buck rolls his eyes toward the ceiling and appeals to whatever deity might be listening to kick up another lightning storm and finish him off. "Tommy, I said I get it—"
"You were so much. You are so much," Tommy breathes. "But, Evan, you've never been too much."

Buck and Tommy are back together in 9x01, but Buck hasn't told anyone, as a parallel to Bathena in 2x01.
Ravi and Eddie take him out one night, to try and find him someone to hookup with.
He's constantly dodging any girls'/guys' attempts to get into his pants, which confuses Eddie entirely, but Ravi catches on pretty quickly and decides to call Tommy, not knowing they're back together.
Tommy shows up and walks up to Buck and Buck finally relaxes, saying something like "think I've finally found someone to take home".
Ravi grinning, thinking he's now 2 for 2.
Eddie is confused because he thinks they've been broken up for a year.
Buck and Tommy leave together, hand in hand.
