Suga’s mixtape is so so so raw. And it’s so painful to see the thoughts that go on throughout his head. I get that his first tracks like “agust d” and “give it to me” are fun to listen to and get hyped, but his mixtape shares the whole entire spectrum of his emotions and thoughts.
Like in “the last ”, he’s literally talking about sometimes he’s scared of himself and how his depression killed the person that was “Min Yoongi”. He’s taking about how as time goes on, he feels more and more like a monster even when he’s performing for thousands of people. He’s talking about his anxiety and how sometimes he hides in the bathroom because he would lose his breath.
And like one of his lines is like “My parents don’t me that well. Even I don’t know who I am myself. If it’s like that, then will my friends know? Or you?”
“At Dawn” his last line is “I am an island in his wide ocean, don’t throw me away” and he talks about human relations that pass by. He talks about how he can’t even step outside the dorm and how it’s like a prison to him.
“so far away” he talks about how his friends and family are slowly slipping away and how he’s alone and just how much he wants to disappear and I’m frustrated because I’m not fluent in Korean but I can just hear the pain and frustration that Suga is going through.
please please please please please read the translations. Suga is seriously pouring all that is him into his mixtape. He’s stripping himself down to his most vulnerable parts. He’s not lazy, he’s not cold, he’s not insensitive. He is a man that is fighting through so much but he still puts that on a platform for all to see. Why? because he wants to let people know that there is somebody like this in the world.
He could’ve gotten so much money if he put this out as an album, but no he gave it to us for free. BECAUSE HE WANTS US TO SEE WHO HE TRULY IS AND NOT JUST SEE HIM AS ANOTHER IDOL.
