I wanna talk about this DND npc I made because I think she's lovely. I'm running a pkmn dnd game and every character is a pokemon. It's a mystery dungeon esque universe where there are teams and ultra beasts and in the center there's a fairy city with a surrounding feywild. One of the NPCs in the feywild is Miz. Pyroar. She's a pyroar who's lived in the feywild for years and just wants someone to visit. She puts a listing on the job board that's literally "Come to my house i'm having a teaparty :)" and when you get close to the wilds it leads you to her. She's a cute and whimsical old lady who's house is oversaturated with magic and the sun shines a little brighter on her house because of it. She's got a lush garden she grows and bakes out of, and baking is her hobby. She loves to try new flavors and shares with the flabebe, swirlix, spritzee and cleffa that tend to reside with her and help her around the house. She must be evil right? Well, no. She isn't. She's just an old pyroar. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and she loves to share her treats. That's the twist. It's a mystical place with more food than you can imagine, it's so bright outside its hard to look at and the owner is a sickeningly nice old lady who just wants company. If you were a seasoned dnd player, would you even go there?

They don’t tell you this when you’re learning how but there are actually 3 secret rules when it comes to animating.

1. Do you understand it?

You, the animator, the freak making that thing move, do you know what’s an arm and what’s a leg? Can you tell which finger is which? Is that fur or an ear? Skin or a sleeve?

If yes, move on to

2. Does it feel right?

Is the action being displayed moving the way you want it? Is it too smooth? Too rigid? No? Good! Move on to

3. Is it (at least somewhat) presentable?

Would you be able to show the movement to someone and they would understand what’s what? You might know that hand is a hand, but would Peepaw? Is the action you are creating comprehensible to someone who hasn’t been staring at it for 10+ hours? If no, you have more work to do.

But if yes, congregations! You’ve animated!

Now do it again.
