Sage pulled her cardigan closer to her once in the boat, the breeze rising off the river a little chilly. It seemed as though she couldn’t get the smile off her face. I love pasta…and desert. She winked at Dustin before sticking her fork into the pasta and brought it to her mouth. Wow, it’s really good.
Are you cold? [He asked but it was apparent to him from the way she was clutching her cardigan. Before she could protest Dustin removed his jacket and carefully leaning over the dinner table set it over her shoulders.] Better? [Dustin was careful to eat slow, he did not want to look like a complete pig in front of Sage. The food was delicious not that he expected it to be anything but. Despite his restraint he finished the food fairly fast.] Desert time. [Dustin said the second Sage finished her plate. Music could be heard from the streets of Paris and Dustin was glad that the night had turned out as well as it had.]
Sage laughed once more as Dustin lead her to the already prepared boat. Oh, its lovely. She sighed watching the boat float peacefully on the river. At his introduction the girl stepped forward shaking the man’s hand with a smile. Before entering the boat she turned back to look at her friend. You are full of surprises aren’t you?
[Dustin shrugged then let Sage step ahead of him and get in the boat first, the whole time he hovered protectively prepared to catch her if she lost her balance.] Fortunately the waters seem calm tonight so I don't think our food is going to end up all over us. [The size of the boat forced them to sit very close together but Dustin was careful to make sure that they weren't touching. He didn't want to make anything awkward.] Bon appetit. I hope you like pasta because that is all Felix knows how to make. That and lemon soufflé which we will be having for dessert.

Don’t worry it’s been my favorite day too. Sage replied softly her hand moving to squeeze his shoulder in reassurance, before moving her attention back to the book. Of course you can, you don’t even have to ask. Seriously you can feel free to come into my dorm at anytime and just take it. She laughed shortly and nodded as Dustin conceded. Hmm, how about dinner then boat? Sage couldn’t help but feel excitement swirl within her and something else she couldn’t describe, shaking off the feeling she went to go purchase the book with Dustin.Â
[Dustin paid for the book, carrying it out the door so that Sage wouldn't have to. He approached the Seine river where the lightys were illuminating the water.] I wonder if there is a way to have dinner on the boat. [There was. Dustin had made reservations long ahead of time. He had really wanted Paris to be a special trip since usually he was busy with family obligations when in the great city.] Oh wait there is and someone happens to have our spots reserved. [They crossed a bridge and approached a small stand where a man who happened to be his family friend had a small boat prepared.] Sage, this man is our rower Felix.

But we have only just begun our day. Sage teased with a cheesy smile, but she felt the exact same way. Something about Dustin’s presence made her mood completely brighten. She turned to look at him as he pleaded, biting her lip in consideration. Fine, but only if I can give you something later. She turned back towards the books pulling out a hardcover of The Old Man and the Sea,she had been meaning to read it for awhile but couldn’t find a copy in Allegory’s library. How about this one?
I know. [He mentally scolded himself for being so forward but at least he was being honest. Dustin took the book and quickly read the back cover.] You'll have to let me borrow this. Why can't you accept my gift without giving me something back? [Dustin knew that Sage would insist on paying him back so he sighed.] Fine. Where do you want to go after this? Dinner or boat tour?

Sage gasped slightly as she took the step into the store. It was exactly the type of place she would choose to spend forever in. Sure I’ll hide in your suitcase and everything. Don’t worry I’m sure this will all make up for it. She grinned and turned to Dustin before pulling him into another hug, tighter this time lingering in his arms. This place is amazing Thank you so much but I couldn’t possibly let you get me something. She shook her head wandering off towards the place he had gestured towards, trailing her hands over the books.
Today has already easily been the best part of the trip. [Dustin smiled, this time prepared for the embrace and although he knows it might be his overactive imagination but it seems a little longer than the last hug.] Please. I'm begging you to let me get you something. You can't come here and get nothing. [He pleaded as he followed her around the store. Dustin glanced at the book titles some of them that he had heard of before and some which he had never heard of. On another day he would have scanned the first few pages of all of them too but at the moment he was content following Sage around.]

Then lead the way. Sage gestured in front of her before matching Dustin’s pace through the narrow alleys and streets. It’s really beautiful here, it wouldn’t even feel like being lost. Just exploring. She turned her head to look at her friend at his question. It’s been good, I’ve always wanted to see this place. I’d like to come back sometime, have more time to see what I want. What about you?
[They were approaching the building after another few turns, through the large windows shelves stacked to the roof with books and a sitting area could be seen.] Exactly. And it is surprisingly easy to get back to where you started by aimlessly wandering. [Dustin held the door of the store open, following after Sage into the building.] Maybe one of the times I take a trip with my parents we can sneak you on the plane. Yeah, sticking to the school schedule took a little of the fun out of it but I'm making up for that tonight with you. [He rubbed the back of his neck, using the other hand to gesture to a stack of books.] Um - you should get something. Whatever you want, my gift to you. I would recommend checking out the Hemingway section.

That sounds great. Let’s get to it then. Sage moved down the hallway a little faster than usual, keeping up with Dustin’s strides. Excited to start the day of exploration with her best friend at her side. Once they arrived outside of the hotel she looked back towards the boy. So where now?
Just stick by me and you won't get lost. [He said making a left onto a narrow cobble side street that wound down a hill surrounded by buildings. Dustin knew that taking the wrong turn could easily leave them trapped for hours but it was a risk he wanted to take.] If I had to be lost anywhere I would prefer to be in Paris. How has your trip been so far?
Private - Paris
At the knock at her door Sage quickly put down the book she had been reading and made her way to the door. She smiled brightly as she saw Dustin. I would love to. Sage quickly got her coat and closed the door behind her. Hugging Dustin in the hallway before pulling away again. So where did you want to go?
[Dustin tensed momentarily at the physical contact but quickly shifted into her before letting go.] Uh - well there is a bookstore that I thought we could check out first.Â
Private - Paris
[The Paris trip was coming to an end and although Dustin had enjoyed the past few days there was still something he needed to do. Standing outside of Sage's hotel room he knocked a few times, smiling when the door opened.] Ready to explore Paris together?
I could say the same for me.
Oohh, does it have anything to do with a girl? You can talk to me if you like. I’m pretty good at giving relationship advice.
No, no girl but thank you for the offer. I am sure it would be great advice.
Don’t we all?
How have you been, Dustin? Anything new with you? You’ve been awfully quiet lately.
I think anyone who doesn't is not a person that I would want to know.
Oh I have been fine, not really but I am usually very quiet. Or I try to be.
Enfin Ă Paris! The view from my window is just amazing. I could wake up to this everyday.
I wish that it could be an everyday thing.
Does anyone have sleeping pills on hand? It seems I left mine at the airport and the little mermaid next to me refuses to comprehend the term shut your mouth.Â
Be nice Sage.
