“Beauty is not long hair, skinny legs, tanned skin or perfect teeth. Believe me. Beauty is the face of who cried and now smiles, beauty is the scar on your knee since you fell when you were a kid, beauty is the circles when love doesn’t let you sleep, beauty is the expression on the face when the alarm rings in the morning, its the melted makeup when you have a shower, it’s the laughter when you make a joke you’re the only one who can understand, beauty is meeting his gaze and stopping understanding, beauty is your gaze when you see him, it’s when you cry for all your paranoias, beauty is the lines marked by time. Beauty is what we feel in the inside which also shows outside us. Beauty is the marks the life leaves on us, all the kicks and the caresses the memories leave us. Beauty is letting yourself live.”

“Above all, don’t lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love.”
— Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov (via books-n-quotes)
Time is tricky. You have whole months, even years, when nothing changes a speck, when you don’t go anywhere or do anything or think one new thought. And then you can get hit with a day, or an hour, or a half a second when so much happens it’s almost like you got born all over again into some brand-new person you for damn sure never expected to meet.
E.R. Frank, Life Is Funny (via books-n-quotes)
“And the world we live in will be either better or worse, depending on whether we become better or worse. And that’s where the power of love comes in. Because when we love, we always strive to become better than we are.”
— Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist (via books-n-quotes)
“Everyone lives three versions of themselves; a public life, a private life and a secret life.”
— Lauren Beukes, Broken Monsters (via books-n-quotes)
I understood that as much as I had resisted the outside, as much as I had constricted my life, as much as I had closed and narrowed the channels into me, there were still many takers for the quiet heart.
Steve Martin, The Pleasure of My Company (via books-n-quotes)
Real life doesn’t have many happy endings. Why shouldn’t books make up the difference?
Scott Westerfeld, Afterworlds (via books-n-quotes)
“And sometimes I have kept my feelings to myself, because I could find no language to describe them in.”
— Jane Austen, Sense and Sensibility (via books-n-quotes)

Adidas launches new initiative for women in sports
Girls and women in sports are at the core of Adidas’s latest initiative dubbed ‘She Breaks Barriers’.
The multi-faceted initiative announced this month will include a number of major projects such as supporting professional athletes, identifying barriers and proposing solutions to get girls participating in sports.
To launch the movement, Adidas created the She Breaks Barriers film. Featuring some of Adidas’s most influential female and male athletes, and narrated by musician Pharrell Williams, the film highlights the barriers faced by women in sports.
To further support this, Adidas also released an open letter to its employees and to communities around the country, to join the effort to level the playing field and co-create the future of women’s sports.
The initiative builds on the #CreatorsUnite conversation launched in August 2018 by the sportswear giant.
“It’s heart-breaking to see young girls drop out of a sport because they don’t feel confident or strong enough. That’s why it’s so important for me to partner with adidas to help shine a light on young female athletes and provide more opportunities for them to pursue sports that they love,” explained Tessa Virtue, five-time Olympic medallist and adidas athlete.
The film will air this month across all mediums: television, cinema, digital and social.

— Kazuo Ishiguro, Never Let Me Go (via books-n-quotes)
“Some people go through life searching and never find their soul mates. They never do. You and I did, we just happened to have them for a shorter period of time than we hoped for. It’s sad, but it’s life.”
— Cecelia Ahern, P.S. I Love You (via books-n-quotes)
