Spoilers for Lord of the Rings Online: Before the Shadow: Book 3
I know I was expecting Meneldir to be killed, seeing as how Before the Shadow was an intro sequence added after release, but they just made it cruel. First, he is afflicted with the Grey Fear that drives him mad, which forces him to relive his worst memories—allowing a group of trolls to slip by him that ended in a family dying under his watch. Then when Gorwen tells the Grey Fear to release him, and the Grey Fear kills him as a twisted fulfillment of the command. After he's killed, I have to watch his friend Halbarad mourn; and to top it all off, Halbarad tells me that Meneldir wasn't exiled after the incident, but drove himself away in shame. I expected a quick jab with his death to segway into the main story, but not the knife being driven into my chest, twisted, and brick thrown at me while I was on the ground.
