Final Refined Craft Project - Animation 2

Theme: Growth (clouds expand and contract too).

I took inspiration from Gregory Darrol who came to speak to us in a lecture a few weeks ago.  he shared his animation challenge with us and i found it most inspiring how his subtle movement created a big impact and i=an interesting scene.

Through this challenge I have also played around with a more  simplistic illustration style, it was really fun to just sit down and craft something that I am proud of.

Final Refined Craft Project- FarmSmart App Design

I have really been enjoying App design and what better way to round off 3rd year projects than doing something you genuinely want to do.  With regards to refining this piece i have added a feature to the app where farmers can talk to other farmers, to create  a sort of forum where they can ask each other questions and converse freely and with ease.  i have also added a widgets section where they can prioritize their day to day activities on the harvest calendar widget s well as look out for Gail force and harsh winds using the wind measuring widget. 

ive mentioned in a previous post that FarmSmart is an educational app for farmers and it was born from the insight that overgrazing is one of the main causes of soil erosion in South Africa.

I have decided to add new app feature like the call a friend feature, where farmers can talk to other farmers in an online chat- style.

i have also added a widgets page where farmers can plan their harvest on the harvest calendar, according to their own time and priorities. I have also crafted a menu to navigate through the App.

Final Refined Craft Project -Animation

Growing up I learned that if something isn't easy to you, you don't throw in the towel. To me After Effect is not easy but I will not throw in the towel.  When choosing to refine a craft project i looked at the animation challenge we were given and though that this was a great way to challenge myself to get better acquainted in the after effects programme.  This Theme was Dual (as in consisting of two parts, elements, or aspects).

I came across this verse recently and it had such a hold on me.  This verse is from the Bible and it goes something like this. “I am pressed to the mark for the prize of a higher calling of God.” This inspired me to do a little self portrait.

RE-BRAND

I wanted to do a re-brand on my logo for my blog, i think it could reflect more of the Coffee Theme that I have integrated throughout my blog and blog posts during the year.

Simple, but effective.  I found an easy way to integrate the coffee theme into the logo without it being too obvious and overdone. I really enjoyed crafting this brand and logo.

Latte: REFINE A SKILL

This post is called latte because it went down smoothly, much like how lattes go down smoothly.  I wanted to refine the new skill I learned (pixel Animation).  I feel as though this process was exciting but challenging at the same time.  it was challenging because with pixel animation you have to plan your scene but at the same time refine and simplify it down to its most basic state.

Matcha Cappuccino: NEW SKILL

I know I mention this in my animation challenge but seeing as though this was a different task, it deserves its own post.  I named this post Matcha Cappuccino because this drink was something new to me just like how pixel animation was new to me. Although I had fun executing this piece, I feel like I could improve this new skill.

Cafe Mocha: Animation Challenge

We were challenged by our lecturer to execute two animations from a list of 10 options or prompts. I decided to name this post mocha because this was surprisingly really sweet.  Sweet meaning that I really enjoyed executing both pieces.

1. Theme: Growth

I used Photoshop to animate this frame by frame, I would like to try more animations in this program just because the option with the different brush types is so varied.  I used a slightly textured brush for the lines here.

2. Theme: Death

Here I wanted to kill two Birds with one stone so for my second animation and the  FIND A NEW SKILL task, I learned how to make Pixel animation.  With pixel animation, I noticed that everything needs to be simplified and that can become difficult.

Espresso: first experience with 3D

Now I know you are all wondering why I’ve called this Espresso, and the reason is because i needed about a double shot of espresso to keep me focused and sane during this task. First off, the program is super tricky to use if you aren’t familiar with the controls and how it works. I used the latest version of blender and my prep time consisted of like two hour of purely watching tutorials on the different settings and how to actually move around in the program.

When it all comes down to it i did learn a new skill but something terrible happened when I tried to render the file.  Nonetheless I have learned my way around the program and managed to make people laugh in the process.  Watch this!

Affogato: App Design

This post was named Affogato because I enjoy App design the most, much like how i simply enjoy a great Affogato with almonds.  Affogatos are an enjoyable coffee treat.

FARMSMART is primarily an idea executed to run as a South African government initiative to help farmers conduct their daily farming activities without compromising the health of their most important asset, soil.   The App takes more of an educational stance where farmers can learn from the information provided to them on the app.

The purpose of this app is to combat soil erosion and land degradation by informing these farmers on the right way to set up grazing systems.

Americano: CMS WEBSITE

For this task we were required to find a website that was less than attractive and try and work with a CMS template to give it a bit of a new flair.  I wish i could display the old page here although, since then the page has been taken down because the business has been bought out by a large brand and has come under new management.

I named this post Americano because the Americano coffee is an acquired taste and even though a CMS website is much easier to complete it took me some time to get used to the controls and way around wordpress in order to change and update things.

What I learned is the effect a parallax transition can have on a website, it can be very aesthetically pleasing and  eye-catching.
