Peggy Guggenheimâs great grandson created an immersive, treehouse version of a museum/gallery in Tulum, Mexico. The IK LAB is a contemporary art gallery  within the Azulik Resort which happens to be eco-friendly and adults-only. No trees were used in the construction of the space made up a series of twisting, undulating floors and doorways, and visitors are invited to walk barefoot, interacting with the floor as a living organism. The IK LAB is meant to immerse the visitor into a meditative state, and to serve as a gateway to discovery and connectedness.
Spotify and the Brooklyn Museum worked together to create a David Bowie subway station takeover. Images of Bowie have taken over the Broadway-Lafayette subway station in the Soho neighborhood of New York City that Bowie called home for twenty years. The public display is an extension of the Brooklyn Museum's Bowie exhibition "David Bowie Isâ. Each work is accompanied by a unique Spotify code that brings users to Bowie music paired with the image. This collaboration provides an immersive, multi-sensory museum experience to a public space, free and accessible to all.
Chris Stavroudis is inviting visitors to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, to showcase his art-cleaning technique. Art conservators normally work in high-tech labs and use scientific techniques to make sure paintings and other works of art stay clean and safe. Stavroudis will clean the painting on select Thursdays, uncovering brighter colors, teaching gallery visitors more about the process, and conducting Q+Aâs about the process at the gallery. This  exhibition might make you see art in a different way - and appreciate the craft and chemistry that conservators bring to their profession.
Frieze New York brings together more than 190 galleries from 30 countries, showcasing the world's most significant artists, a series of talks, and the cityâs most talked about restaurants, all in a bespoke structure in Randall's Island Park. Visitors can view and buy art from more than 1,000 of todayâs leading artists and experience a curated program including talks, performances and more.
The 'Anti-Frieze Art Fairsâ in Brooklyn are showcasing fairs of their own emerging artists, many with budget prices. Even where costs are higher, looking is free and worth the trip. The Other Art Fair, 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, Moniker International Art Fair and the Fridge Art Fair are running through the weekend, and they could be viewed as anti-Frieze events. Tapping into an overlooked market, they predominantly spotlight young talent.
