Someone’s interpretation of the fountain scene and my reply.

I totally disagree I think Griffith 100% cared for and loved Guts on a level so deep you can’t even call it friendly or even romantic. Griffiths speech to Charlotte was him trying to convince himself that he didnt care for Guts on a personal level. We see all throughout Golden Age the barriers he has placed between himself and his soldiers break down with Guts, like him asking Guts whether or not he would assassinate Julius and seeking Guts opinion of himself after the Queen’s assassination. As for Guts it’s clear he also has a deep attraction towards Griffith. We see that ever since the incident of Donavan sexually assaulting him, he can’t stand the idea of being attached to others or god forbid someone asserting control over him. His line that he repeatedly uses with others is “Don’t touch me. Don’t you ever touch me.”, he even asserts this boundary with Casca. However when Griffith comes around and plainly tells Guts that he wants him and grabs his face in a way that asserts his dominance over him, Guts doesn’t show an ounce of hesitation.

Obviously the two share some sort of affection, which leads to the moment at the fountain with Guts overhearing Griffith. I think at that moment Guts realized that he had formed a connection with Griffith and regressed back to being a child running from any form of bond. Guts seeking a dream of his own is an excuse to distance himself from that love because he’s scared of feeling it. Those are my thoughts on it. I feel like I could write a million things more but it is all up to interpretation and this is just my interpretation of the story.

Remember that time Paul wrote a song about how much he loved his girlfriend Jane as a single for their new album, and as the Side-B, John wrote a song about how he hoped that his lover reciprocated his feelings and would choose him over their current girlfriend.

Well anyway I bought a Japanese Single of And I Love Her/If I Fell.

The records catalog number EAR-20247 is also a combination of my angel numbers, so this is MY McLennon artifact.

Remember that time Paul wrote a song (P.S I Love You) that was a letter to his “partner” saying that he’d always be in love with them even if they couldn’t be together at the moment, then John also wrote a song (It Won’t Be Long) saying that it wouldn’t be long till his lover was coming home and they could be together. There was also the time John wrote a song (If I Fell) asking if he could really trust the person he was falling in love with, and Paul wrote a song (Tell Me What You See) reassuring a partner that they could trust him with everything about themselves. Don’t forget the time John wrote a song (In My Life) to a mysterious partner where he said that the person was so important to him that everything else in his life seemed a little less important to him now, and not even a year later Paul wrote a song (Here There and Everywhere) while sitting next to a sleeping John about Admiring a sleeping partner and realizing they are all he needs. Also that time John wrote a song (Don’t Let Me Down) about restarting a relationship and how this time he hopes the other person won’t hurt him in the same way, and Paul wrote a song (Oh Darling) begging his partner not to leave him all alone and he said he’d never let them down. Then Paul wrote a song (Two Of Us) reflecting on the end of a relationship that he’ll always have fond memories of, and John wrote a song (Jealous Guy) apologizing to his partner for how he ended their relationship with his jealousy and insecurity. What a coincidence they wrote so many songs that lined up so well. It’s almost as if they had some sort of secret code to each other.
