“Anyone else’s brain feeling a little fried,” He was still a little fuzzy from the Halloween party and coursework was the last thing he wanted to concentrate on. “Let’s take a break.”
“I don’t know if we can,” Aaron sighed, shaking his head. “I’m so fuckin’ behind on this assignment, and I put it off for the carnival last night, so I’m fucked if we don’t finish.”

“Agreed.” Reaching the tilt-a-whirl, Jak smiled when she saw the line moving and people getting on. “And lucky us. Which car do you want to go in?” She asked, turning towards them.
Aaron smiled as they saw they were next and surveyed the cars, looking for the one that seemed the fastest. They pointed a finger towards a red one that looked promising. “That one! Go!” They ran towards it quickly, grabbing the door to open it for Jak; they were being polite, but they also wanted the outside seat.

“Well, you’ll never know until you try.” He replied cheerfully. “And hey, it could! If the seeker spots the snitch and they don’t act like they’ve seen it, maybe the other team’s seeker might not notice it either.” He didn’t play Quidditch, but since his family and friends did, he took an interest in it. Tapping his chin, Fend snapped his fingers as a thought came to him. “Why don’t you try to act like Buzz Lightyear until your date, and see if you can stay in character. If it helps, I’ll act like Woody.” At the question about plushies, Fend shook his head. “Not right now.”
Aaron suddenly got a rare surge of shyness, reaching up to rub the back of their neck. “Fend, I’m um... not gonna do that,” they explained, trying to belittle the bit of fear in their stomach. Aaron wasn’t sure how to bring up their irrational fear of acting, but they weren’t going to try if they didn’t have to. “But we can do something else, like... anythin’ else?”

“Don’t threaten me with a good time.” Ximena nodded, she didn’t ever really recall him getting bashful or nervous when saying something of the sort. She eyed him for a moment before she chuckled, “If I press a button, will you say it again?” She teased him, “I could use some food. Well– something other than popcorn.” She hesitated a moment before she grabbed his arm, “Surprise me.”
Aaron felt like an elephant had gotten off his chest when she reciprocated the innuendo. He was only bashful since he wasn’t sure if he was still allowed to be as sexual as he usually was. Now that he got the okay, he had a better idea. He winked at her before smirking and shrugging. “Depends on where the button is,” he chuckled before holding his elbow out a bit to give her better access to his arm. He then stood on his tip toes for a moment before smiling. “Corn dogs sound good?”

Coraline rolled her eyes, but she didn’t fight it. They might have been more tolerable to deal with inside if they stayed at her back. “Deeeeep breaths, bro, deep breaths. ‘Ve gotcha.” she reassured them with a grin.
Aaron did their best impression of Tina Belcher and let out a long groan, slowly following their sister into the haunted house, reaching for their phone to start the timer. The dark atmosphere was incredibly distressing to Aaron, seeing fake (hopefully) medical tools dripping with fake (hopefully) blood hanging from the ceiling. There were bodies lying on medical beds, and as soon as Aaron passed the last one in this room, the body sat up and screamed. “FUCK WHAT THE FUCK?!” they yelled, clutching Cora’s back tightly.

“No. However, I may be out of make up remover for the next few days unless my mother can take some time to send me more because a shower isn’t going to be enough for this.” She shrugged, “It didn’t take me as long as I thought it would though. Thanks though, Buzz.” Ximena teased. She thought she’d might still be a little mad but with time that anger had melted away.
“I mean, if you need help in the shower...” he started, then shook his head with a nervous chuckle. Damn his instinct for innuendo. “Sorry, sorry, force of habit.” He hoped he wasn’t already blowing this; he really wanted to get this right. He chuckled at the reference to his costume. “I should probably start counting how many times I say ‘to infinity and beyond,’ ‘cause I lost track after a while. But that doesn’t matter right now, what do you wanna do? You hungry? Whatever you want, on me.”

“Maybe we can find someone who is good at script writing!” He suggested, not giving out hope. “And then we can both act, and we can credit them as our writer!” It seemed like a logical solution since Fend wasn’t any good at scripts.
“Mate, I don’t know how good I’d be at actin’ either,” they explained with a sigh. “I’ve never done anythin’ like it, you know. Quidditch doesn’t exactly need a fuckin’ poker face or anythin’.” They chuckled at their own joke, looking around. “So, any other plushie catchin’ your eye?”

“Exactly! My best friend from back home hates when I spin her.” It was the reason Jak had started going on the spinning teacup and tilt-a-wirl rides by herself. “But where’s the fun in not spinning? That’s what the ride is there for.”
“I know, right?” they exclaimed, hands going up expressively. “It’s not fun unless you feel a bit ill to your stomach after!” Aaron was a bit of a thrill seeker, unless it came to horror themes. Then they were a weenie.

“You mean the tilt-a-hurl?” The brunette joked, grabbing their hand, an excited grin making its way onto her face. “I hope you’re okay with being spun.” She oved to spin around on those types of rides.
Aaron chuckled at her word choice, letting her pull them towards the line. “Fuck yeah I am!” they exclaimed, getting their usual hyper energy back. “Glad someone else gets it! It’s way more fuckin’ fun the more you spin the thin’!”

“That’s a great idea! We can make our own little youtube channel about them.” Fend said, excitement coming into his voice. “You can be AJ, and I can be Bwee Bwee! Ooh, or maybe you can be Bwee Bwee and I’ll be AJ!”
Aaron gasped in excitement before realizing they were probably the weak link in this little team when it came to creative writing. “I’d love that, but I’m not good at writin’ and shit,” they explained with a sad shrug. “I can’t make you pull all my weight.”

“I’ll give you that one.” Clowns looked creepy enough when they weren’t of the murderous child eating kind. At their admission, Jak’s face softened. “Okay. I won’t push anymore. How about we go on a ride instead?” She knew that at least they weren’t afraid of heights. Or if they were, they hid it pretty damn well.
Aaron dramatically sighed in relief, leaning over and placing their hands on their knees. They then stood back up and said “Thank you, fuck yes, let’s go on the tilt a whirl.”

“Oh.” He said, face falling. He’d been hoping that after the party, the two of them could go backto the common room and have a little fun. But he also didn’t want them to screw up their date. At the mention of the nickname, Fend perked up once again, masking his disappointment. “I like that! AJ and Bwee Bwee, the best of friends!”
Aaron noticed their friend’s mood shift, how could they not? But what could they say to make them feel better? Their usual comforting mechanism was flirting and innuendo, but they technically couldn’t do that right now. So they tried to keep the mood light with the plushie conversation. “Oh Merlin, I want a fuckin’ kids show starring them now,” they said with an excited smile. “I’d watch the shit out of AJ and Bwee Bwee.”

“Can I see the results again later?” He asked innocently, although the wink he shot Aaron suggested otherwise. “I know, and I’m incredibly glad you got captain.” At the question about the name, Fend tilted his head in thought. Although he made sure to give every plushie he owned a name, he wasn’t the best at naming them. “Maybe Aaron Junior?”
Aaron clicked their tongue with a sad shrug. “Sorry mate, probably not,” Aaron explained. “I got my date with Ximena in like an hour. Unless I massively fuck it up, which I’m tryin’ not to, I’m not sleepin’ with anyone else.” They swelled with pride at the cheering from their friend, then even moreso when Fend suggested naming the duck after them. They gasped, then said “We could call him AJ!”

“It was a little funny.” Or at least it was to her, considering who she was dressed as. If she’d been dressed as anyone else, she probably wouldn’t have found a comment like that funny either. Even with the sense of humor she possessed. “They’re not going to hurt you or touch you. And if they do, I’ll kick their arses.” Jak had gone to enough haunted houses to know that the actors never touched the guests.
“Clowns are fuckin’ terrifyin’,” Aaron explained solemnly. “Thought you’d understand that with your fuckin’ costume choice.” He then shook his head. “I know that, and I appreciate it, but I’m just... I’m not good with scary shit, alright?” He was a little embarrassed that he had to be that explicit about it, avoiding looking at Jak’s eyes.

She side-eyed him uncertainly before shaking her head, “Whatever ya say mate.” Her eyes began to widen in excitement as she noticed they were extremely close to the entrance, “It was too late when ya stepped into line with me.”
“Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck,” they groaned loudly, throwing their head back. They did not want to do this, and even free food and ice cream wasn’t comforting them. And that was saying something. They were next, and the older Wood pushed their sister ahead, trying to hide behind her.

Fend winked back at them before eagerly watching them play the game. “Wow.” He breathed when he saw them hit the bell. He knew that Aaron was strong, but now it really showed just how strong they were. When they walked over to him duck in hand, Fend’s face lit up gleefully. “I did!” He exclaimed.
“You’ve now seen the results of a consistant exercise routine since first year,” Aaron gloated, ‘casually’ stretching into a pose before laughing and shaking their head. “I’m not captain for nothin’.” They then asked “What’re you gonna name’em?”

“I think that can be arranged, although I might have to call up a clown first.” She joked. However, she put a hand on his arm. “If you really don’t want to go in, I won’t make you. Although I do highly recommend it, since it’s a lot of fun and everyone’s really committed to their roles.”
Aaron’s expression darkened. “Not funny,” he said darkly. Then, he relaxed considerably when she said she wouldn’t make him. “People takin’ their roles seriously is exactly why I’m fuckin’ terrified.” He knew some of the kids that volunteered for the house, and he knew they could be very scary when they wanted to be.
