The Door

My cat has long pondered what lies behind the front door from her seat at the foot of the landing. Unsure of its true meaning or design, and after spending a lifetime on the inside, she senses the wood slab holds some great power.

While up late, I wonder about another door. I am the cat, and life after death is the outside. This is not a desire to pass through, but to explore what it would mean to do so and what comes afterwards. With no access to the handle, we stand in awe as the door swings open and shuts before we can catch a glimpse of anything.

One day we will all walk through. At the end of it all, will my friends, my neighbors, my cat and I pass through the same door? How will I find you?
