The older I get, the more I want my energy reflected back. I read this quote. It was something along the lines 'it hurts you because you would have done that for someone and they didn't for you'. I relate to it more and more.
But there's another voice that tells me that everyone is not the same. Everyone's style is different.
There is this struggle in my head to reconcile the two.
I don't want to be an option that people pick up when they have nothing better to do. Because when I care for someone, I go above and beyond to make them feel it. I don't treat them like dispensables.
And the worst part of this feeling is that's all in my head. The other party might not even know it's because of them. They might not even realise how far I have overthunk it.
And if I communicate this, wouldn't that be forcing them to change? If their natural setting isn't it, then it would mean I am not accepting their flaws. And that's not a healthy relationship.
I know it's all in my head. So how do I stop hurting without incriminating other people?
